Mark Levin to #NeverTrumpers: The “Stop Trump” effort must not extend to the general election
Hot Air ^ | April 6, 2016 | Allahpundit

Via Breitbart and the Right Scoop, you can grumble about this if you’re #NeverTrump but we all understand, I think, that the vast, vast majority of the party will come around to his position by November, right? Don’t get me wrong, stalwart anti-Trumpers may have the numbers to fatally damage Trump’s chances even if they’re just five percent of the electorate. But that’s probably what they’ll be — five percent, not a third of the party despite how much fun it is to ooh and ahh over numbers like that. Never underestimate the power of partisanship, especially when you’ve got a Democrat as unlikable as Hillary topping the other ticket.

And even if five percent of Republicans do end up as #NeverTrumpers, that’s not necessarily a death sentence for Trump’s campaign. Why? Because some segment of Bernie fans claim that they’re #NeverHillary:

One out of four Sanders supporters– 25 percent – say they would not back Clinton in a general election if she became the Democratic nominee for president, while just 69 percent say they would support her, according to a new McClatchy-Marist poll.

By comparison, Clinton supporters are considerably more open to supporting Sanders should he overtake her large lead in delegates and win the nomination. Just 14 percent of Clinton supporters would shun him in the general election, while 79 percent would support him, the poll found.

What’s the actual number of Sanders supporters who’d sit out an election with either Trump or Cruz, both of whom will be painted by Democrats as unprecedented threats to the republic, as GOP nominee? Two percent? Remember all the Hillary fans who vowed after 2008’s bitter primary to loss to Obama that they’d never vote for him for president? How’d that work out?

Anyway, click the image to listen to a preview of what conservative media’s apt to sound like this fall if Trump seals the deal in Cleveland. Levin has endorsed Cruz and has fiercely criticized Trump over the past few months (even over the Michelle Fields incident, which is unusual in major conservative media) but he’s prepared to set that aside in the name of beating Clinton. I wonder where Glenn Beck, Trump’s most strident critic in conservative talk radio dating back to last year, is on that. If anyone’s going to carry the #NeverTrump banner to the bitter end, it’s him.

Sigh. Just like your boy Cruz, you can’t seem to differentiate between what a businessman donates vs. what a politician donates/accepts.

Trump was not donating for policy reasons, he was donating for business reasons — to grease the skids so work could go forward. That’s completely different from making or receiving donations to either (a) line a politician’s pockets, or (b) influence legislation.

Levin was my rock. I regarded him as a founding father in the modern age. I even made excuses to myself every time he treated Rubio as a ‘full throated conservative’ after Rubio became a turncoat.

Levin, Rush Beck and others are merely using us to sell books and ads...coralling us like cattle to the wrong candidates. I’m a smart guy, I’m just fine thinking for myself.

Trump is not a successful businessman. He took a large inheritance and played dirty with it.

He ended up ... according to financial experts ... with about the same amount of money he would have if he’d put it in bonds.

Along the way, he did illegal things, donated to democrats, hired illegals, consorted with the mob, sued people right and left, declared bankruptcies at will destroying companies and jobs.

What’s successful about that?

Actually, Cruz tried to get O'Reilly to agree that Trump is responsible for the the liberal policies of those he supported. How damn off the reservation is that?

"If you want to know what liberal democratic values are, follow Donald Trump's checkbook." Ted Cruz

Wow...is Levin still on the air?

I don’t know for certain, as I have unplugged, tuned out, reprogrammed my car radio...and am now generally enjoying my life more.

I won’t feel compelled to listen to the opinions (or buy the books, subscribe to their video channels) of those who have called me low information, not a true Christian or any other such blather.

Levin, Beck and even Rush. Gone from my days. Tired of the preaching and condescension.

It isn’t Levin’s hatred of Trump that is the problem, it’s that he has made it nearly impossible for his many followers who over the years have placed their faith in Levin’s opinions to vote for Trump or anyone else when Cruz fails — which is a near certainty.

Unbelievable...Levin has been relentlessly pounding on Trump for months and basically made Trump absolutely the last person Levinites should consider. He has made Trump out to be the thorn in side of the “true conservative” Ted Cruz—who is the rightful nominee yada yada.

So perhaps now Levin is starting to see the landscape more clearly...the landscape that his agenda has brought forth~the very real possibility of a Hillary Presidency; and now now he wants to make sure that if Trump should win, after all the bashing of Trump, conservatives should vote for Trump. How convenient...Or perhaps he is just trying to CYA so as not to be blamed...Better late than never, but SHAME ON HIM.

I personally have gone from a devoted fan who used to listen to his audio replay multiple times and bought all his and his dad’s books (and I mean every one except Men in Black) to a person who cannot stand to listen to his program...

Outside of the comments and reactions a of some of my fellow Freepers here, Levin is the biggest disappointment of the primary season.

How can you trump supporters cling to the fantasy that Trump can win... in the face of all evidence to the contrary.

One, he cannot at this point win the nomination. There is almost zero possibility that he can get enough votes to wn on the first ballot. There is zero possibility that he would win on the second ballot because the released delegates will all go to Cruz or elsewhere.

And yet, you plaintively call for Cruz to step down and save your candidate? Your candidate who keeps destroying his own campaign by his vanity and stupidity.

To be more accurate, Cruz said “Trump and Hillary are two sides of the same coin.” He said that because Trump had donated money to Hillary, that meant Trump endorsed Hillary, and it meant that Trump agreed with all of Hillary’s policies.

Wait a minute....Trump donated money to Ted Cruz. Does that make Trump and Cruz two sides of the same coin. But, since Trump and Hillary are two sides of the same coin, does that translate into Cruz and Hillary being two sides of the same coin?

Cruz's logic makes no sense.

Morally, paying taxes and donating to politicians to leave you alone are equivalent.

Paying taxes funds all sorts of violations of rights by the federal government, it funds the EPA, bureau of land management, etc. Yet we do it because otherwise they’ll violate our rights (put us in a cell).

Trump wouldn’t be allowed to build more than 13 floors if he didn’t donate to politicians to have zoning changed. Even though it was his property and his right to do so, the government didn’t allow him. So he pays to be able to exercise his rights.

The donations were to democrats because they were in power. If those in power were Republicans, the donations would’ve been to Republicans.

Mark Levin, as editor of the conservative review, allows Amanda Carpenter to publish black lists of people who support Trump.

So it’s way beyond just not supporting Trump, but also going and permanently blacklisting his supporters.

Glad you mentioned that!

Well, he was right.

Oh, really? So if Trump donated to Ted Cruz, are Trump and Cruz two sides of the same coin?

Both O’Reilly and his guest said that, yes. Their reasoning was that Trump (and Hillary) are very well known across the country, whereas most people don’t have any idea who Cruz is.

However, I will say this: They were taking the opinion that Cruz’s unfavorables would go UP when he becomes better known. I would argue that Cruz’s unfavorables could just as easily go DOWN as he becomes better known.

(I don’t personally believe that, because I find the man repulsive, but I allow that other people may find him charming after they get to know him.)

I feel like I've gone through the cycle of grief with Levin.

In venn diagram terms he and I were never in the same set - he over with Mr. Will and Jorge Lopez - we should at least be grateful how revealing this process has been for us all.

Its like some buzz kill turned one the lights at the masquerade ball.

Queue the Who - "We Won't get fooled again" ahh who I'm kidding of course we will.

Series though how many politicians do you know in any line of political stuff and things has ever created as many jobs as Trump?

When this started out I liked Mark Levin and thought Donald Trump was/is a jerk. Now I like Donald Trump and think Mark Levin is a jerk!

Me I've remained the control in this process - a constant jerk

Good times, good times.

“And Trump has just hired a guy who ran campaigns for all of the Bushes.”

By Reagan. Manafort was hired by Ronald Reagan.
