Cruz
Thompson in ‘08, Gingrich in ‘12, Cruz tomorrow.
Isn’t Fred still running? What? Oh no!
Wasn’t he the DA of Manhattan for a while? :)
Trump
Trump! (And yes, I was a massive Thomson supporter. I’m so sorry that he got sick)
Trump
Trump
Fred - Newt - Trump..
Thompson in 08, Gingrich in 12, Cruz tomorrow.
Though I have thought about voting Trump just to kill off Kasich for good here in Ohio. I know Cruz won’t win here, but if I could make sure Kasich doesn’t I kinda feel my vote would be better used. Especially since it’s winner take all.
Thompson waited too long in 2008 to enter the race and failed to build on the grassroots momentum that he could have ridden. I disagree with your notion that he attacked Huckabee. Huckabee was never a front-runner, or even a serious candidate for that matter, and Thompson did not really run an attack campaign against the other GOP candidates. Ultimately we were saddled with McCain in that race - who many suspected might run as a democrat. It usually does not serve the GOP well to nominate a candidate that can easily be mistaken for a democrat based on his policy positions and voting record.
In answer to your question, I voted for Fred Thompson in the 2008 GOP Primary, and I voted for Ted Cruz in the 2016 Primary.
Cruz or Trump starting to shift my leaning towards Trump after repeated Cruz screw ups.
Since they’re all either liars, or dems, or both, I would have to go with the Constitution. Closest would be Cruz.
I supported Fred, now it’s Ted. Both really “got” conservatism and could articulate it. I donated to both campaigns.
I sat the primary out in 2008. In 2012 I voted for Gingrich and this year for Donald Trump.
Fred Thompson in ‘08 and Cruz in ‘16.
Whether Cruz will be any more successful than Thompson remains to be seen.
Trump, because he’s a no BS kinda guy like Fred seemed to be.
From Thompson’s Wiki page ......
He did not speak much about his religion during his campaign, saying, “Me getting up and talking about what a wonderful person I am and that sort of thing, I’m not comfortable with that, and I don’t think it does me any good.”

Certainly not Cruz-like in that regard.
I am a Christian but Cruz’s holier-than-thou behavior has turned me off of him.
