LePage married a Canadian, and their daughters were born in Canada. Having one US citizen parent did not get them automatic US citizenship, it seems.

And yet PEOPLE HERE, completely ignore the OBVIOUS FACT... Cruz was born in Canada, was a Canadian citizen until VERY recently, and can’t even produce an America BC like Obama did. Why are we pretending that he is eligible?

Oh? When? After he came back? The day he was born? Citizens can apply for benefits. Know of anyone born in Canada to an American who has applied recently? I like Cruz, used to love him, but his stock goes down daily with me.
We are not talking about citizenship. We are talking about natural born citizenship. Cruzoids simply CANNOT understand the difference. It’s a sickness really.

Cruz either has the Canadian-issued Consular Report of Birth Abroad, which is his legal proof of US Citizenship, or he doesn't. Would appear his parents never applied for it....making Cruz a bonafide Canadian.
Significantly, Canada prohibited dual nationality at the time of Cruz/s birth. If Cruz can/t produce a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, there's a little problem with the US Senate office Cruz holds now (and was elected to under false pretenses) .......not to mention his doomed aspirations to be US President.

This could also amount mail fraud---if Cruz made falsified assertions WRT his eligibility to raise money as a US candidate.

Well my Philippines-born daughter did not have to be naturalized — she was a U.S. citizen at birth, never breathed a breath of air as a non-U.S. citizen and never had to go through the naturalization process. All I did was apply for a U.S. Passport, which essentially “claimed” her U.S. citizenship. This has been my personal experience, so I’m not sure what this LePage guy is talking about. Seems to me, if his daughters went through the naturalization process, it was unnecessary.
Yes, they were US citizens at birth via Title 8 Section 1401 subsection G of the US Code and as such have never needed to be naturalized.
The Gov is in error.

Canada did not have dual citizenship in 1970.
Because Ted Cruz was naturally born a US citizen having inherited his citizenship from his mother via Title 8 Section 1401 sub section G. Canadian citizenship laws are irrelevant to US Citizenship laws.
