There have been some small but persistent worry bubbles floating around the blogosphere. They center on the possibility of Donald Trump not getting the Republican nomination because the Republican establishment has been so atrocious in its betrayals of the Republican rank and file that it has sent âmillionsâ of voters to other parties or to the ranks of the unaffiliated.
Well I am one of those voters. After decades of being a registered Republican I gave up hoping they would change and actually make good on their promises. Last spring I re-registered as âNO PARTY.â
The worry that has developed within the ranks of Trump supporters is that with too many people taking themselves out of the primary voting pool, Trump could fail to capture the nomination. This would of course be a supreme irony. The RNC would have won because so many voters had left the Party!
Any candidate the Republicans could nominate aside from Trump would have a very difficult time beating Hillary Clinton. Do not be fooled by the polls. Ted Cruz could not win a general election against Clinton for many reasons, not the least of which being that the GOPe would sabotage his campaign.
Marco Rubio would cause millions of conservatives to stay home...

I sense though that the recent terror attacks have handed the election to the Donald.
From your lips to God's ears. Of course, one would think Obama would have had enough sense to tell his Muslim brothers to hold off until after the primaries. But all the better for us.
A lot can happen in a year and, inexplicably, a poll today still had the Hildebeast beating Trump. But if I was a betting man if the election were held today I'd bet Trump has it.
That might be the only good thing to come out of them.
I would like to ask Trump if he would declare the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization as well as CAIR, what he would do to “purge” the FBI, CIA, other intel agencies and other sensitive federal agencies of muslims and muslim sympathizers if he is elected president. I hope he is as extreme as he sometimes sounds. Our government has been totally taken over.
Well .. the elites have already tried everything to sabotage Cruz’s campaign .. and he just keeps rising in the polls.
So, I don’t agree with you that he would lose to Hillary; the public is tooooooo angry to allow Hillary to win.
I don’t always agree with Coach is Right. I think he underestimates Cruz. Cruz is not out there waiting for the shoe to fall that axes the top runners. He has an enormous underground movement. But a Cruz against Hillary would be HER nightmare candidate. She is a felon, even if not a convicted one. Cruz has a great advantage there.
Politico is obsessed with Cruz’s candidacy and sees it as her greatest threat. A few other lefty sites are also getting worried. They have every right to be. Trump would softball Hillary in comparison to Cruz. Trump does well enough at the debates, but he actually states NO policy, whatsoever. He just repeats the mantra, “We’ll get it done, it will work, everybody will be happy.” stuff. Well, that won’t work against Hillary.
Sorry, but even though Trump is riding high, he lacks policy details. He can shoot from t he hip and get through. In a debate with Hillary, she’ll get the good questions and he’ll get the “gotcha’, the tough questions...especially the ones where he has not iterated the hows and whys. These are important things. The lefty media has noticed that Trump is great in his element, but he has not had to really be specific about things. They will tear him to pieces in a debate with Hillary and that little shrug he gives from his shoulder sometimes will be interpreted as agreement with the media’s premise.
Not that I don’t think Trump would beat Hillary, but I think MANY people underestimate Cruz.
Cruz is IMO the most substantive candidate. My only worry is that he's not a particularly "fiery" speaker. The content is great, but the delivery simply does not cause people to stand up and say "hell, yeah!" the way they do with Trump. It's a shame we've reached a point in which a candidate has to appeal to the reality TV crowd.
One thing I truly disagree with you about and it is this: Mr. Trump obviously pays attention to details always; he would not be where he is in life if he did not do so, it an innate part of his nature, it goes without saying. The fact that he does not go into great detail at this point in the campaign does not mean that he is not well aware, after creating and presiding over a financial empire worth billions of dollars, that in order to achieve his stated goals, that he, and the experts he hires, have to put together detailed plans to achieve those goals.
Obama knows from experience that Hillary’s people are part of a very large, well funded, and very experienced team.
He knows they have been working at the local level to circumvent as many election laws as possible, while stuffing voter rolls.
He knows that despite the polls and support any Republican candidate may have, no matter how bleak it may look for Hillary in the general, she has more than enough going for her to take the election by storm and continue his legacy.
It is a conservative Utopian dream that Ted Cruz could be elected. He would be the best shot Hillary Clinton has of somehow winning. Everything that hasn’t worked against Trump would collapse Cruz. The media would make him out to be a Hispanic Uncle Tom (BTW in a big survey done in Nevada shows it is Trump not Cruz who leads among Hispanics) Moreover, because he is a “close the borders guy” his money would dry up very quickly. The RNC does not want a “close the borders guy” to win. Please remember McDaniel O’Donnell Angell and Cuccinelli. There are no valuable positions Cruz holds that Trump doesn’t hold. The difference is that Cruz won’t be able to get them done and Trump will. Cruz has made some bad votes and that would be used to call him a hypocrite Do you think Cruz could get endorsed by Black Ministers. They’re backing Trump not because they don’t like Hillary Clinton but because they do like Trump. Trump is getting 31% of Hispanics and between 13 and 25% of Blacks - don’t believe that if you want but there is no way Cruz gets anymore than the usual Republican 30% Hispanics and 7% Blacks. Even if he gets 50% of Hispanics - not likely but let’s just say Cruz gets 50% of Hispanics - he still doesn’t come close.
How does Cruz build the wall? How does Cruz create job opportunities? Why is Trump WAY ahead of Cruz on fighting ISIS Shutting down the borders Fixing the economy and dealing with world problems?
Sure it’s fun to dream about Ted Cruz as president but it will never happen and in less than two months the country will see that.
“Ted Cruz could not win a general election against Clinton for many reasons, not the least of which being that the GOPe would sabotage his campaign.”
I don’t think so. I think they would be willing to, at the very least, stay out of Cruz’ way as long as that meant that Trump won’t be the candidate.
Yeah it would be great if Cruz or Trump named Newt as SoS and the gave the rest of the crew cabinet level positions.
Actually, Hillary is the old east end of a horse heading west.
Like they're not trying to sabotage the Trump campaign?
Cruz is very substantive, no doubt, but Trump’s advantage over Cruz is more than just his fiery rhetoric. It’s also his many years experience as a successful CEO. He knows how to get things done.
