I saw this old portrait hanging in a restaurant. I've seen this face before but it's killing me to that I cannot identify who it is.
I have googled everything possible and get nowhere.
Does anyone know who this portrait or photograph represents?
thanks.
Geez, who is that fop? Got to be an northeastern type.............
The visual literacy on this thread is like an episode of Leno's "Jay Walking"....
Got to be Sam Houston! We have his portrait in our den, it’s Sam!
Carnegie and Alexander Graham Bell look like one another. Both Scottish.
Edison was my guess-
Looks like he belongs on one of those high denomination dollar bills.
Edison had rounder face and weaker chin.
President James Buchanan?

Did you upload the picture there?
Do you remember which restaurant it was? If so, why don’t you call them and axe them about it? :-D
Getting warmer!
Please allow me to introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
I’ve been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man’s soul and fate
I was ‘round when Jesus Christ
Had his moments of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the Czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a General’s rank
When the Blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
What’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched the glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the Gods they made
I shouted out
“ho killed the Kennedys?”
Well after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached Bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
Colonel Sanders?
Now that looks possible; but I'm skeptical. Sam Houston appears to have a longer flatter chin, a wider nose and a different brow:
Louis Rukeyser
I agree with you there. I don't know who it is, but I've been trying to demonstrate that I know who it isn't. My closest guess is an older depiction of Cornelius Vanderbilt, early railroad magnate, but I don't even think that is correct:
