Also, I think it's important to have a "Truth" detector to separate the wheat from the chafe.
During the time that I've been a FReeper, I've had the occasion to read thoughts and posts from many hundreds of FReepers and it seems the common theme is that, for the most part, we all share a Christian or Jewish worldview.
Now, that's not to say we don't have many non-believers here too, and I know several who are brilliant, but the majority of us follow God's Word the best we are able.
Having said this, I ask the question:
Is it too late for America to recover from it's collective lack of critical thinking skills?
It does so much for us that we have not learned how to learn, how to think. This newest generation is in for a world of hurt as they are ill-equipped to face life.
47% of Americans are void of critical thinking skills.
You must choose between pooitical correctness and critical thinking. The left has xeliberately made it a punishable offense to express inxepenxent and critical thought
Ping!
Exhibit 1: The presidency of Barack Obama.
They’ve been dumbing people down for a century or so. Apparent it worked. Shame.
It’s never too late. But we need leadership. I think Trump may provide that.
And we need to change the control of the media. That’s harder, but we could start by banning foreign ownership of the press in the U.S.. That would at least get the middle-easterners out. That and banning excessive control by any one individual/corporation. We still have anti-trust laws on the books, but I don’t think they are enforced.
The contorted first sentence, and a turn of phrase or two that follow, make me wonder whether the author’s critical thinking should also be called into question.
It is true that liberals have ruined education with their insistence on “non-judgmental” pap. They have mangled language in the interest of spawning confusion. They have inculcated apathy toward citizenship in the United States. They should not be allowed to teach or to vote.
Public Schools:
“Mission Accomplished!”
Our online world is a two-edged sword when it comes to critical thinking. On the one hand, critical thinking is negated by the internet supplanting the books and conversation that often form the questions which inspire critical thinking. On the other hand, if we think critically to some extent in the first place, the internet provides instant access to the answers we seek.
> Is it too late for America to recover from it’s collective lack of critical thinking skills?
It took one mulatto Commie president and his staff of minions with the backing of an uber wealthy white man who thinks he’s Emporer Palpatine controlling an idiotic version of Darth Vader to do some pretty serious damage to the U.S. but I think that if Americans pull together and oust the Commies from our government we can salvage it. It won’t be easy but we can do it now that people have seen the end result and destruction of what the socialist mindset can do. People are really sick of it.
The problem is not the technology.
The problem is the refusal of the left to realize that the utopia the envision, is not possible. They want to re-educate, and outright ban that which demonstrates that utopia is not attainable. They use all manner to deprive those at the bottom of their dignity, and to deprive the middle of the fruits of their labors.
Only they (who they believe ought to be on top), who are the anointed ones, are smart enough to create the utopia they desire, and all others must be forced to conform to the left’s vision.
In that, there is the absence of a Judeo/Christian worldview. This worldview places God at the top, not the state, and thus God must be banned or replaced with leftist thinking, and the state must be the new God.
We might be the dumbest people to ever live.
They should start by being more critical of themselves. They need to discover that their generation(s) have been vastly overrated and then they should do something about it. If they get that far, they’ll have to get used to the idea that it never ends and that it’s one of their responsibilities as adults to maintain reasonable levels of awareness and conscientiousness...IF they hope to ever make the world a better place.
The last few Presidential elections are proof.
“Is it too late for America to recover from it’s collective lack of critical thinking skills? “
Destroying the public school system alone would eventually do the trick.
Even if the exposure and participation in Christianity and Judaism is not very deep, that exposure forces people to think about some fundamental questions about right and wrong, proper order for society, the nature of oppression, concern for fellow human beings, and whether there is a true God and what he is like. When seeded into a young person’s mind, they have a leg up on critical thinking skills, even though the left squeals at the top of their lungs that Christians are fundamentally stupid. On the contrary, Christians often are armed with knowledge, spiritual strength and a view of the world that exposes the Left for the liars and murderers that they truly are. THAT is why they hate Christians.
Is it too late? There are some examples in the Bible where God allowed the odds to be turned so much away from His people that it was clear the ensuing victory was delivered by God and God alone. Is it too late? I would think that depends on the plans that God has for this nation. Invariably, God used individuals and nations to His glory when their hearts were right and their faith in Him was strong. There are many good people left in our country, but the simple measure of committed church attendance reflects a huge spiritual decline in our nation. Only He knows our plight.
Require it in High School through University.
Well, look at our great conservative education program.
We don’t have one.
The liberals have the media and the press and the education system.
We have The School Of Hard Knocks. Some people don’t learn the right lessons there.
