How to explain The Donald phenomenon?

Seriously though, how does The Donald – despite his huge ego, funky hair and lack of elegant rhetoric – continue to pick up speed as he hurtles towards Iowa and the second R-word debate? Perhaps it’s not what he’s got to offer, butt rather what he doesn’t have on offer: to wit, he’s not a politician. At least not in any traditional sense. So nobody owes him an apology.

How ironic, that Donald Trump would potentially be the person who, for better or worse, forever changed the political calculus, kicking open the doors of closed party politics, by injecting an element of pure outsider celebrity popularism into a previously tightly controlled elitist process.
It is similar to physicists, who upon finding an entirely new sub particle, realize that all their previously held theories and equations, suddenly don't work anymore.

This race is about illegal immigration and the policies that both the left and right have foisted upon this nation. These other things are side issues and if that is your take, perhaps you need to do some further research and educate yourself.
I fear we will get a Bush or a Hillary and we will not last as a nation for 8 years. We need a fighter and a man that is not paid for or owned by outside forces. We need a man with the Eye of the Tiger not a weak follower. This may just be that pivotal moment in our nations history. I pray it is not to late.

I think they equate Cruz’s Christianity as being the core of a conservative. There are aspects to that, however, Jimmy Carter ran on his Southern Baptist creds as a Sunday School teacher, and look how that turned out. We aren’t electing a pastor of a church.

Immigration is the issue of the century and will determine the fate of our republic, much like the civil war did. It will decide whether we are ruled by as socialist minority or a freedom loving majority.
