worth a shot — no downside.
I’ll report back a few months from now.

A pint of water before instead of meals is the secret to losing weight, scientists claim. There...fixed.

And with the water, bread. This isn't a big reveal, btw -- the late James Beard mentions the use of complimentary water to reduce stomach capacity before the tiny little gourmet meal is brought out in a restaurant.

Tap water. Hard or soft? Well or municipal? with or without fluoride?
What’s wrong with sparkling water?
I thought it was just water with bubbles in it.

Forced portion control. I get the same effect consuming a pound of wet mortar before a steak.

Hunh. I drink a lot of water, and most of it is before meals. However, I don’t lose weight... but I do maintain. I do exercise. Don’t drink pop anymore. Really cut back on carbs and sweets. So, what’s the deal? Why don’t I lose weight? I do love meat, but don’t eat a lot of it. I like chicken more, and turkey, but still...

50 to 75% of weight is water combining with the food. Eating a block of styrofoam might actually work better.

A handful of cashew nuts 15 minutes before a meal dulls your appetite. I’ve been doing that and am still fit despite hiding from the gym for the last 2 months.

Normally thin people are not doing any of this. Normally thin people don't have eating strategies. They just eat until they are full and anything after that is painful to them.

Knowing how sloppy this kind of research has become, it may be a simple case of subjects with more will power, willing to do something not so pleasant prior to every meal, would have lost the weight anyway due to their own discipline. Maybe not much different from walking a half mile to every meal.
However, the docs all say more water is better, so why not?
