My allegiance to this country is gone, and I used to be so highly patriotic. Its a very sad day. Let the chinese or russians have it, my allegiance is to God, I am done with trying to change this liberal godless cancer of a country.
I agree with the "alive in every heart" notion....I would add however that there are a lot of ways to fight. "Going Galt" to take care of yourself and your family is a valid way. You can no longer "go Galt" in Colorado....you have to go a little bit further.
Here’s one idea: http://vivatropical.com/park-wilson-bio/
There’s many more here: www.internationalliving.com
So was I. And I still am.
What's arrogant and stupid is *you* appointing yourself judge over the matter. Who made you the arbiter of "arrogant?"
I’m inclined to agree with you. I say the Pledge of Allegiance a lot. For some time, it has occurred to me that the ‘republic for which it stands’ no longer exists. And when I reflect on the past of this country, I think on this- The America of 1945 was a country worth defending. The America of 1965 was worth defending. Maybe even 1985. But the America of 2015?
I’ve always been fascinated by the anti-Pinochet propaganda. Where Castro directly killed over 10,000 to secure his regime and had another 100,000 die off trying to leave, Pinochet supporters racked up between 3000-6000 dead during a period where there was guerilla warfare. Then he willingly gave up his power once the leftist threat to Chile had passed.
That he’s been reviled as a monster always struck me as amazingly good left-wing propaganda.
Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.
Mark Twain
“The withdrawal of a State from a league has no revolutionary or insurrectionary characteristic. The government of the State remains unchanged as to all internal affairs. It is only its external or confederate relations that are altered. To term this action of a Sovereign a ‘rebellion’ is a gross abuse of language.”
“Obstacles may retard, but they cannot long prevent the progress of a movement sanctified by its justice, and sustained by a virtuous people .”
“Secession belongs to a different class of remedies. It is to be justified upon the basis that the States are Sovereign. There was a time when none denied it. I hope the time may come again, when a better comprehension of the theory of our Government, and the inalienable rights of the people of the States, will prevent any one from denying that each State is a Sovereign, and thus may reclaim the grants which it has made to any agent whomsoever.”
“The contest is not over, the strife is not ended. It has only entered upon a new and enlarged arena.” Jefferson Davis, address to the Mississippi legislature - 16 years after the wars end.
“The principle for which we contend is bound to reassert itself, though it may be at another time and in another form.”
I would say the Republicans are a bigger threat than Obama. He can’t do anything without them, and Boehner, McConnel and Rubio are in a contest to see who can bend over fastest.
Noooooooooooo, they will have none of that conservatism stuff. It will be bondage or nothing.
Each of the great civilizations in the world passed through a series of stages from their birth to their decline to their death. Historians have listed these in ten stages.
The first stage moves from bondage to spiritual faith. The second from spiritual faith to great courage. The third stage moves from great courage to liberty. The fourth stage moves from liberty to abundance. The fifth stage moves from abundance to selfishness. The sixth stage moves from selfishness to complacency. The seventh stage moves from complacency to apathy. The eighth stage moves from apathy to moral decay. The ninth stage moves from moral decay to dependence. And the tenth and last stage moves from dependence to bondage.
You know...call me crazy but something looks awful familiar about those stages....
You must have a special kind of discernment to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff based on an Internet forum post. Should the Lord be so quick to judge, I pray that He bases it on more than one FR reply.
By Monday, serious calls for regulation of faith. More gun control. Harsher penalties for anyone speaking against the blessed homosexual.
By August, a massive upswing in lawsuits based on the above and the beginnings of widespread voilence.
By September open violence with militants of every liberal stripe taking advantage of social media stirred hate for traditionalists.
Then things start getting bad.
I agree. Yesterday was perhaps the saddest day of my life, not counting when I lost love ones. But, sadly, there’s no place to go. This virus of same-sex “marriage” is spreading across the civilized world. Sure, not in Russia. But there’s so much else wrong with that place, plus the whole language/culture thing, that few Americans would want to live there. I think the “turn the other cheek” philosophy has been Christianity’s undoing. Islam is not burdened with such a mentality. Maybe that’s why it has been growing from strength to strength; indeed ISIS is conquering the Middle East even as we speak, and who knows where they’ll go next. Christianity could use its own ISIS. But then, there’s that whole “love”, and “turn the other cheek” business again. I guess we’re hosed.
Yes. I am a dumb blonde and even I can see that we are passing through the ninth stage and moving into the tenth. The only thing to get rid of a tumor is burn it with fire which I believe the LORD will be doing very shortly.
Never worked on me. Pinochet had the right idea about leftists
I think it's that we cannot fathom such hatred, and such lying, existing in so many Americans, in so many people we know and work with. It makes our jaws drop.
It IS a good vs. evil battle. We've been fed to lions before. We've been gassed before. We're being executed overseas today. It is here, now.
"Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war."
'Progressives' scoff and snicker at Christians and conservatives, because we remain milquetoast, lukewarm, the parents refusing tough love out of guilt avoidance (our great roadblock).
You’re crazy, Norm.
Red hair dye. 5 IQ points instantly. ;)
Amen!
I am NOT! I’m an asshole. Several lesser evils informed me of that just yesterday. ;)
