Donald Trump announces his 2016 candidacy - yes, really!
Canada Free Press ^ | 06/16/15 | Robert Laurie

Sadly, the American dream is dead. But if I get elected President I’ll bring it back. Bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.” That’s the word from billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump who, just moments ago, announced he was running for President. I don’t have much to add to his bombastic speech, so I’ll simply say this. Whatever happens with Trump’s candidacy, it was incredibly refreshing to hear someone who is unapologetic about their wealth and success.

2012 gave us a mealy-mouthed Mitt Romney who was constantly trying to shirk the fact that he was a well-heeled success story. It felt like he was always trying to deny his financial reality in a phony effort to be “just like you.” Trump isn’t doing that at all. As he put it, he’s “the most successful person ever to run for the presidency, by far.”

He’s famously claimed he has “a Gucci store worth more money than Romney.”

...And I love that. To hell with the “wealth-shamers.” It’s about time SOMEONE decided to stand up and be proud of their own success. You’re whining about “income inequality” because you’re unsuccessful? Sorry. That sounds like a “you problem.”

The girls on CNN are freaking out by what Trump said today.

They are sooo concerned about how we will hurt the other candidates, by “making them talk about things they don’t want to talk about”! (That would sure be a pity, wouldn’t it?)

And, oh, how will the Republicans manage him getting into the debates! Oh, horrors!

The guy covering the campaign kick off said Trump did not stick to script and said things no candidate has ever said before! OMGosh! Think of it!

I would call a well administered single payer system, a big government (and unconstitutional) solution, wouldn’t you?

I do not like single payer system. Because it inherently requires government to administer it. I much prefer a system where every citizen has access to PRIVATE healthcare insurance, with portability, access to healthcare companies outside of state, and subsidies to those CITIZENS who can not afford healthcare costs.

I think he could very well do much better than people give him credit for.
I can support him.

If he ran as an independent (which may still happen), then he could self-finance, have no primaries, and control the narrative for the next year and 5 months, potentially (maybe likely) winning.

Here he is going to cause havoc. Cruz will have to stake out some good high ground because Trump will use the sheer force of dollars to charge the field and his populist rhetoric will fool far too many people on the right.

But I think JeBush is officially finished. Trump will suck the RINO air clear out of the room.

Unfortunately, women would not vote for a man who has married a model

Disagree. Women will be impressed how he has brought his daughter up to be a lovely woman and with responsibility in his business world.

How exactly Trump is a liberal?

Don't look at what he says now when he wants your vote. Look at his history.

1) “I probably identify more as Democrat.” —Interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, March 2004

2) “I’ve been around for a long time. And it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans.” —Interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, March 2004

3) “Nancy — you’re the best. Congrats. Donald.” —Handwritten note to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, January 2007

4) “Bush is probably the worst president in the history of the United States.” —Interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, March 2007

5) “I’m totally pro-choice.” —Interview with Fox News Sunday, October 1999

6) “I want to see the abortion issue removed from politics. I believe it is a personal decision that should be left to the women and their doctors.” —Remarks to reporters, December 1999

7) “I’m very liberal when it comes to health care. I believe in universal health care.” —Interview with CNN’s Larry King, October 1999.

8) “The Canadian plan also helps Canadians live longer and healthier than Americans… We need, as a nation, to reexamine the single-payer plan.” —Writing in his book, The America We Deserve, January 2000

9) “By imposing a one-time 14.25 percent net-worth tax on the richest individuals and trusts, we can put America on sound financial footing for the next century.” —Writing in his book, The America We Deserve, January 2000

10) “I think he [Obama] has a chance to go down as a great president.” —Interview with NY1, November 2008

Trump’s donation history shows Democratic favoritism

He has given money to what looks like a Republican enemies list, including Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Charles Rangel, Charles Schumer, Edward Kennedy, the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee of New York. He donated $10,400 to Harry Reid, including for his 2010 battle with Sharron Angle, the GOP nominee and tea party favorite. He has also been pro abortion. You're free to call all this what you'd like. I call it liberal.

That’s a good point.

In a nation in an 12-year economic pit, a guy like Trump resonates.

Glamor, brashness, bravado, hot wife, money and business sense will catch people’s eye.

But that’s surface stuff and he will need to show the ability to tackle serious international issues. If this was the 90s, I would say he was the front-runner.

But he says he’s now pro-life and conservative! He’s an even more liberal Mitt Romney with bad hair.

Of course he is going to say that, he knows he has to if he wants the conservative vote.

Mitt Romney did the same thing only there was a video on the net of him saying he supported a woman's right to kill her baby.

The sad part is when these liberals say they have changed there will always be some who will be fooled. Sad indeed.

LOL! Dana was apoplectic. I’m guessing she’ll have a bottle of wine and an ambien or two tonight.

Bret Baer took the night off. His substitute host, Will, Krauthammer and Mara were all dismissive of Trump. I’m looking forward to seeing his interview with BOR in a few minutes.

Clown he may be, but I’m looking forward to him spending the next 6-8 months jumping up and down on Hillary’s teeth.

Until and unless he makes a mockery of the process and the party, and up until the point at which his actions evoke sympathy for the wretch, sure.

1) meaningless comment, have to know context
2) I am in stock market for 53 years, and have absolutely made more profits during democrats
3) Another meaningless comment, have to know context
4) Based on the Iraq fiasco, Wall Street Bank Bailouts, and adding one more entitlement for ever (prescription meds) Bush-43 in my lifetime was the worst republican president
5) Abortion is a divisive issue, and abortions continued under all presidents in my lifetime.
6) see 5)
7) I also believe in Universal Healthcare administered by PRIVATE corporations, to include competition from outside states, guaranteed portability, etc. Canadians are in better health overall than Americans. Could be their healthcare system
8) see 7)
9) That is the most conservative fiscal agenda I have ever heard of. Our growing national debt is the biggest danger to our country, much bigger than ISIS will ever be, IMO.
10) Based on what lies Obama told prior to 2009, that statement could have been true, since no one knew they were lies, in Nov 2008.
