Irish Central reports:
"Pope Francis continues to amaze. He married 20 couples on Sunday in Rome several of them living in sin having had children outside marriage.
'The people getting married on Sunday are couples like many others,' the diocese of Rome said in a statement. 'Some already live together, some already have children.'
The Pope said marriage was 'real life, not some TV show.'
In marrying them he he kicked away one of the bulwark beliefs of the sex-obsessed hierarchy in the old church, the belief that sex outside marriage was a heinous and immoral act.
All of us Irish Catholics grew up with that unfortunate characterization of those who did not conform to the absolute orthodoxy of only having sex and children within marriage.
All others were fallen sinners. This led to some mighty hypocrisy on all sides as fallen men and women were considered far below the virtuous few most of whom on closer scrutiny were not such virtuous souls.
The scandal around the unfortunate Bishop Eamon Casey, when it was revealed he had a child, was subsequently utterly dwarfed by the pedophile crisis that hit the church in Ireland like a hurricane. It seems likely that contraception could be next. Francis is nothing but a realist, and over 90 percent of Catholic couples use contraception.
Francis is trying to make the church more inclusive, to absorb those who have been driven away by right wing ideology bordering on the dictatorial...

It was only months ago that Pelosi and Biden were taking communion at the Vatican.
Oh, knock it off already. your anti Catholic animus is well known here. Try singing a new tune.

I have known couples that had to separate for a time before they could be married. I am not entirely in agreement with that, but what is the alternative? They never marry and continue to live in sin? Like I said, short on details the media. Were these people recent converts? Had they stayed away etc. It’s important to know the particulars. That why marriage tribunals are important. Every case is different.
Pray for them. Any woman who can say abortion is a sacrament, is repeating the mantra of some very unsavory people.
Their actions caused a firestorm of outrage.

You got all of that out of the word "ping"?
Look at the Kennedys, and they are Catholic royalty, treated as America’s first family by the Catholic church.
Pelosi and most of the Catholic politicians that we can name, are just following in the Kennedy tradition, that paid off so well for them within their church.
Ted went out in full Catholic glory, even being blessed by his Pope in a letter.
Anyone with anti-Catholic animus is OK in my book since the Catholic Church’s only rival in corruption is our Federal government. Catholic traditions are Satanic and exist only to call Christ a liar. Sickening.
amen...
What does canonically elected mean?
Too long to read completely, but are they trying to say that Francis is the destroyer, or that the destroyer will usurp Francis?
‘Francis is trying to make the church more inclusive, to absorb those who have been driven away by right wing ideology bordering on the dictatorial...’
It is a religion. It is supposed t DICTATE you jackass!
Because the other side of that story was that the woman was showing true repentance, just as the woman taken with adultery was told "to go and sin no more".
Some on here have speculated the couples went to Confession prior to the ceremony. Given the event I, too, would assume that is true. I do not think, in any case, by this act the Pope was declaring acceptance for any kind of life style or act. That, however, is how this is being spun.
Nice if they were to get married -- I guess -- but it isn't a Catholic marriage. People outside the Church << possibly to include the current pope >> don't understand this.
“Ted went out in full Catholic glory, even being blessed by his Pope in a letter.”
Are you saying that it was impossible for Ted Kennedy to repent on his deathbed and gain absolution?
Mind you for Catholics, purgatorial cleansing is not ended by absolution. Sin and its effects are very real, but that is not what I’m asking you to clarify.
Are you willing to say catagorically that Ted Kennedy had no repentence at his death? Are you willing to make that judgment?
The only archbishop in the U.S., AFAIK, who agrees with Burke is Samuel Aquila of Denver. All the other archbishops and all the cardinals give Communion to pro-aborts. The official policy of the USCCB is that a bishop may “legitimately” give Communion to pro-aborts.
Of course, giving Communion to pro-aborts is a mortal sin, but we know that bishops are not bound by the moral law.
Everything being published about this event is poppycock.
People should be in the state of grace when getting married, which means that all these couples should have been to confession. The Pope didn’t marry a bunch of people “living in sin.”
But even if they are not in the state of grace, the marriage is valid.
“Of course, giving Communion to pro-aborts is a mortal sin, but we know that bishops are not bound by the moral law.”
That’s a very harsh indictment, but one you only echo in kind: the skulls of bishops paving the very roads to hell, .
Whew! Without your insightful commentary, I would have been lost forever in the church Jesus Christ Himself instituted. Thank you for turning me away from the beacon of truth.
Tell where you pastor your church, so I may come and follow your novel teachings. Ok, just kidding.
