Pry provided details of recent attacks on electricity systems and said that ISIS could easily team with Mexican drug cartels to ravage America.
He told Secrets, for example, that the Knights Templar drug gang blacked out the electric grid of the Mexican state of Michoacan in 2013 to provide cover for killing those fighting the drug trade.
The Knights Templars and other criminal gangs in Mexico will do anything for money, and ISIS, the richest terrorist organization in history, has hundreds of millions of dollars at its disposal, said Pry.
ISIS could hire one of the Mexican cartels, or one of their criminal gangs already in the U.S., or activate jihadist terror cells already in the U.S., and inflict a multi-state blackout immediately, within days or weeks. Perhaps even a nationwide blackout, Pry explained to Secrets.
I am not saying it is likely they will do so. But given the capabilities and objectives of ISIS and our obvious vulnerabilities, it would be foolish to ignore the threat to the grid, to regard the threat as unlikely. Our planning should be based on imminent asymmetrical threats, and not assume that another 9/11 large-scale attack is years away, he added.
The Texas Department of Public Safety recently said they believe there is evidence that ISIS plans an attack. (source)

If the wood is wet, even a road flare won’t do. Learned that the hard way a couple times.
And prep time. You can get self-sufficient in almost any scenario, but it takes upwards of a year to work out details, process logistics, and wait for food to grow. This thread’s scenario is “you’ve got one week”; get that shovel & box of seeds, yes, but don’t forget the 200 pounds of ready-to-use flour, yeast, and bottles of vitamin supplements to hold you thru until harvest.
BTW: 50 lbs of flour is $14 at Costco. Just checked yesterday. Far from ideal, but makes for a very easy, cheap, and effective disaster prep item.
Yeah, you are. Haven’t forgotten about you, I just cannot come up with anything positive to say. I keep thinking about how to extract you from that location, but by the time we get a “go” on extraction, 400 & 85 will be killing zones rolling NE on all 8 lanes each.
Consider this thread your last comfortable warning. You’ve gotta be somewhere other than inside the perimeter.
Neither do I.
It'll be 100%.
It'll be 120%.
I bid 150%.
Well you’re screwed, but the real question is whether you need a marinade or just bbq sauce.
Ever made hard tack? Flour, water, and salt and you have a filling if not so nutritional meal.
I want Blairs After Death sauce.
I have the year covered, I am more concerned with holding on to it and personal safety. I wonder if I can stand the loneliness in a safe room?
I always laugh a your “slogan”. Is a sarcasm label needed?
My clothes and vest are ready to evacuate for 24-48 hours.
I can grab the back pack for a 3-4 day survival.
My Next pack, on wheels, is for a week or more and contains shelter.
I prefer to shelter in place so have a “go back” pack in order to get home across the river if the causeways are closed.
I do not know what more I can do, right now. A more secure safe room is a plan.
Better than that is “no-knead bread”: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/08/dining/081mrex.html?_r=0
Same ingredients, plus either purchased yeast or using sourdough starter (which is little more than wet flour left out for a few days). Makes really good bread.
Thanks for the links!
It was 1998, when I thought about “no power” and what that would mean to my/and family, existence. Transportation would cease meaning NO TRUCKS. I spent a day writing down what I wouldn't have, starting with getting out of bed in the morning and lasting until I went to bed at night.
I have spent every year since then perfecting ways to live for a long time, over a year, with approximately the same living standard I have now. As new/better methods came about through the years to produce something I had to have, I updated to that method. I generally have three ways to accomplish a necessity. I sort of went overboard on ways to cook and ended up with seven ways. I hope I never have to use any of these preps.
You know we paid for the best prepared place in the world - and it's for for Muslim Obama and family. Don't know about you, but I think I'm as important as he is, so I used my own money to prepare a place for me/family.
I like hard tack for travel purposes but definately not for other uses.
I’ve heard that causes ebola style diarrhea. Perhaps I’ve heard wrong.

There’s nothing you mentioned that I would need to rush out and get. Doesn’t mean I don’t need to get more stuff, just that I have a pretty good start.
Any good prep plan should have some thought as to how to replensih supplies in case of a long term situation leading to shortages of bare necessities.
That is a pretty good deal on flour. Flour, salt, leavening, sugar, and oil can give you a lot of goodies to go with the beans and rice.
No, I thought it made sense so I tried it and it worked.
You’re fine Laz. You will be just fine - there are still plenty of chocolates and silk stockings on the open market.
I appreciate that.
He’s all that’s getting us through this.
But, I’m only doing what I’m supposed to do, and they did for me when I couldn’t do for myself.
