Veterans arent happy with a recent op-ed by the Washington Post, which charged that the Apache, Comanche, Chinook, Lakota, Cheyenne and Kiowa military vehicles were a greater symbolic injustice than the NFLs Washington Redskins name. Even if the NFL and Redskins brass come to their senses and rename the team, a greater symbolic injustice would continue to afflict Indians an injustice perpetuated not by a football club but by our federal government, Simon Waxman of the Boston Review wrote for the Post on Thursday.
He added that the helicopter names were propaganda that needed to end, because Native American life expectancy statistics indicate the violence is ongoing, even if the guns are silent. Readers at the popular military news gathering website Doctrine Man reacted Friday. I suspect that the author is less unhappy that our choppers have Indian names, and more unhappy that there is a U.S. military, wrote Alex Kuhns. Kevin Schooler wrote: What floors me is that for the most part, it isnt American Indians who are offended. It is guilt-ridden white liberals being offended on their behalf. Hows that for paternalism?

Evidently Lefties don't admire or respect Apaches and Chinooks.
I really thought this was semi-news satire. Damn.
Maybe Daniel Schnyder should start using an Apache when he flies out to see his football team lose.
So where does this leave the Apache web server? Bill Gates is probably behind this...
Most likely their great great grandfathers killed them.
At this point, lets do it. Lets erase all reference to minorities/their culture from America. And as each refrence is removed from the public lexicon, make an official speech saying that because liberals were offended, the minority previously being honored can take their eradication from the public square up with the folks responsible for making them meaningless. For making them non persons unworthy of honor or recognition.
I’d be willing to let them rename the Apache after me so the liberals aren’t being offended.
Then, they can use the new AH-64 Bryan to reach out to liberals. You know, find them where they are and conduct outreach using the time-tested means that the old Apache helicopter was so well-known for but with the new, friendlier name since names are so important to them.
We can rename the Hellfire the Peace-Love-Tofu and send liberals some Peace-Love-Tofu wherever they congregate.
The chain gun can be renamed Fairness and they always want more Fairness, don’t they. Give em Fairness until they just can’t take any more!
Then we can rename the B-52 the Good Vibes and send some Good Vibes to the big liberal cities and colleges.
I’m sick of those people!
I always took it for granted that sports teams and military hardware were named after great indian tribes and leaders out of respect.
Why would someone name something they were very proud of after something they disrespected?! -—> THEY WOULDN’T!
only a fool would think otherwise.
You just don’t know how to talk to liberals. Here allow me to give you one that always works..
“STFU”
Guaranteed to end the immediate conversation with a lib and make them go away complaining.
Who is Simon Waxman?
My ancestors belonged to a tribe. Our tribal name is hard to write, but it roughly translates out to “Rotten, Thieving, Whoring, Drunken Bast**ds”.
Yeah, give your helicopter that name.
Simon Waxman, now there is an authentic Native American, or Indian, or whatever the politically correct term is.
The simple fact is no one is offended by these names. Liberal phonies just falsely say they are offended to advance some agenda.
I wonder if George H.W. Bush is offended that the Navy named an Aircraft Carrier after him? Dr. Savage is right, Liberalism IS a Mental Disorder.
Let’s start with Black history Month since we’ve been told calling someone black is offensive.
I always the uss George h w bush was too waspy.
LOL! I always think of Mark Twain: “Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.”
I guess they forgot about the [racist] Jeep Cherokee too. [/s]
I guess Chrysler will have to change the name of the Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee.
