The explosion took place over a Halal grocery in a portion of the city dominated by Arab immigrants:
Ismail Adan, 34, has lived in the building since 2002 and left shortly before the fire. He said his mother had called him early in the morning and he left to visit her, but a cousin who was staying with him was in the third-floor apartment when the explosion occurred. He said the cousin leapt from the window and was injured but he has spoken with him in the hospital.
“He’s OK. It’s not very serious,” Adan said.

First it was the Palestinian diplomat in Prague, now this one in Minneapolis - there’s going to be another one; they always work in 3’s!
The time of the accident would seem to point to a gas leak. The deli is closed for the night, a gas leak develops and gas builds up. A guy comes in at 7 AM to open up, flips the light switch, and...BOOM!

(presumably these Minneapolis Muslims all speak excellent Swedish and enjoy lutefisk and meatballs for supper? Just watch out for those new meatballs, they could be the exploding variety...)
The Fox News report that I saw indicated that the building also housed a mosque. On the other hand, it could have just been a “prayer room” rather than a full fledged mosque. (Isn’t “prayer room” a euphemism for “staging area”?)
Nothing to see here...move on.

The statistical odds are over 95% that any explosion like this,in a building with a gas line, is caused by fuel-air explosion. The odds used to be close to 100% before the proliferation of meth-labs and amateur chemists.

The Fox News report now states that the mosque was next to the apartment building rather than within it. The mosque appears to have suffered no structural damage.
