The GOP could have easily defeated this.
A large majority of repubs voted against it. Boehner violated the Hastert rule and led a minority of Repubs to side with the Dems to give in on this critical fight.
Since Boehner broke the Hastert rule, then the GOP conservative should rebel in the House against Boehner and vote him out as the Speaker and replace him with a conservative Speaker willing to do battle and take Obama to the mat.
In fact the GOP should take the following line in talking to Obama.
"Look, Barry, we have the votes to stop you cold, and we have decided to use those votes. That's the discussion a real Speaker of the House should be having with Obama.
"We control government funduing and we are going to exercise that control.
"We are talking about a complete shutdown where not so much as a dime will be available for you to even heat the White House, so get ready to stay at the local Holiday Inn on your own dime for the duration. Also, tell Michelle she can send her 100+ assistants home to, and weed her own garden.
"The only thing we will fund during that time is the US military you hate so much.
"When you are ready to talk about seriously creating a budget...one that is balanced, one that really reduces the debt...and we are talking about a true reduction in the actual amount we owe, not just a reduction in the percentage of your spending increases...and a budget we that puts an end to ObamCare. When you are ready to seriously talk to us about those things...get back with us.
"Oh, BTW, Barry. One other thing we will fund is the following. The House of Reprentatives will meet each day with the express purpose of impeaching your sorry backside each day for the next 60 working days. Impeach you each day on a different charge. 60 impeachments, Barry. When you get ready to talk to us, then the first thing the Senate will have to take up is those 60 impeachments. Think about that while you are waiting, and watching.
"So, we have the votes, and we are firm. Give us a call when you are ready to talk. Bye now."
The Dims have 2/3 of the government, what do you expect? 2014 is the chance to take *&^% over.
I’m in total agreement with these sentiments. Never again!
voting third party or not voting has never won a seat for anybody except the RAT....
anyone who elects rats is a traitor....
work your primaries then pull up your big boy pants and stand to fight another day....
And people are still advocating voting for them. What do they call doing the same thing over and over, yet expecting different results?
I'm tired of being played for a sucker.
Today brought me to a point I NEVER thought I would reach: I will vote democrat before I vote for a GOP not in the mold of Ted Cruz.
GOP
So called conservatives that are still all about big government. Those like McCain “define” the lack of values this party suffers from, it’s spineless tendencies, golf club mentality at the top, and willingness to compromise on anything or even jump on political expedient topics.
If I were a Democrat, I too would have just waited, since it’s obvious what the spineless Republicans will do.
Welcome to the club. The second Republic will be rolling any day.
Today Le Pen said the EU is about to fall apart like the Soviet Union did. Remember, they were broke, from corruption, the arms race, and military adventures. It is worse than that here. The USA is also about to disaggregate, from the $17 Trillion debt.
The GOP had to join the criminal corrupt FedGov as one, to enable that disaggregation. It has begun.
They left me first, of course.
The 2016 GOPe POTUS candidate is already a sure loser.
America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi! |
The only hope we have is that the younger Republicans turn this thing around. There’s no other chance, a third party will just put 100% Dems and dropping out will do the same.
I’m as disappointed as anyone else but I also see hope, hope because the House stood up to these bullies at great cost to themselves as media beat them mercilessly 24/7. I have hope that it’s a temporary bill and maybe we’ll have a better outcome next time. And finally hope that I’m hearing some Republicans vow to keep fighting. As cynical as I’m becoming, I still believe some of them.
I am not suggesting that we become “preppers”, but Conservatives have to prepare for what is being done to them. Think about how people get by in socialist countries and learn from them.
I had enough in 2008 when McCain’s campaign (after the election) called me and said they needed $$$$ to go after Obama because of the illegal credit card fundraising. OF COURSE.....NOTHING happened. Not a DAMNED thing. Then I had to hold my nose, AGAIN, to vote for Romeney....ANOTHER ‘squish’.
I’ve had enough. If they offer up another capitulator...I won’t vote or vote for a 3rd party.
I agree, but need to ask if you sat home in 2012?

It is time for a true conservative third party. We may take a beating for a few years, but we will take a beating forever if we stick with this version of the GOP. Let’s roll!
