The only hope we have is that the younger Republicans turn this thing around. There’s no other chance, a third party will just put 100% Dems and dropping out will do the same.
I’m as disappointed as anyone else but I also see hope, hope because the House stood up to these bullies at great cost to themselves as media beat them mercilessly 24/7. I have hope that it’s a temporary bill and maybe we’ll have a better outcome next time. And finally hope that I’m hearing some Republicans vow to keep fighting. As cynical as I’m becoming, I still believe some of them.
Sadly, it pretty much already IS 100% Dems.
Every time this happens, a bunch of us get up in arms and talk about needing a 3rd party. Then someone invariably suggests that we let cooler heads prevail and do our best to take over the Republican Party next time around, to make it our own. We get a strong forward momentum until we stand right on the brink of finally being able to push our agenda through — and the establishment heads of the party, whom we are never able to come close to unseating, always stab us in the back, causing the cycle to repeat.
When do we finally say, “Enough is enough”?
I hear what you’re saying, and you’re not wrong. But at the same time, when do we take a stand?
Until today, I was a life long Republican. Believe me, this isn’t easy for me to say. And obviously there are Republicans that I like. (Cruz, Paul, Gohmert, Lee, etc. The usual suspects.)
