Under the POSs presidency, the number of Americans receiving food stamps (now called Electronic Benefits Transfer or EBT) exploded.
Today, one in five U.S. households are on food stamps. Worse still, we are taking two steps back for every step forward: For every new job thats been created, two new recipients (lets call them food-stampers) are added to the food stamps dole.
Given our exploding national debt and the impending bankruptcy of, first, Social Security Disability (in 2016!), then Social Security itself, followed by Medicare, anyone with half a brain whose head isnt plunged deep in the River of Denial, knows that the morbidly obese Welfare State cannot be sustained.
Heres a glimpse into the social pandemonium and mayhem when that day comes and the proverbial sh*t hits the fan.
Last Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, the EBT computer system went down in several states, including Louisiana. Reportedly, Xerox, a vendor for the EBT system, experienced a power outage while conducting a routine backup test in one of the companys locations. While the system was back up Saturday night, it still was not functioning entirely properly in some areas.
Many stores turned away EBT shoppers, but not Wal-Mart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, Louisiana. Those stores allowed purchases on EBT cards even though, since the EBT system was down, the cards were not showing limits. The store managers called corporate Walmart, whose spokesman said to let the food-stampers use the cards anyway.
In other words: FREE STUFF!
What happened was not pretty.
The food-stampers went into a buying frenzy, stripping the stores shelves by the end of the day.
October 14, 2013 Carolyn Roy reports for KSLA, Oct. 13, 2013, that food stamps recipients literally cleared the Walmart stores in Springhill and Mansfield. Just about everything is gone, Ive never seen it in that condition, said Mansfield Walmart customer Anthony Fuller.
From 7 to 9 p.m., people were loading up their carts, but when the cards began showing limits again around 9, one woman was detained because she rang up a bill of $700.00 and only had 49 cents on her card. She was held by police until corporate Walmart said they wouldnt press charges if she left the food.
The chaos ultimately required intervention from local police in Springhill and Mansfield who were brought in for crowd control. Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd confirms they were called in to help the employees at Walmart because there were so many people clearing off the shelves. He says Walmart was so packed, It was worse than any black Friday that hes ever seen.
There were no arrests.
Lynd says at 9 p.m., when the cards came back online and it was announced over the loud speaker, people just left their carts filled to overflowing in the aisles and left.
Walmart employees could still be seen putting food from the carts away as late as Sunday afternoon. I was just thinking, Im so glad my mom doesnt work here [Walmart] anymore, thats the only thing I could think about, those employees working, that would have to restock all that stuff, said O.J Evans who took cell phone video of the overflowing shopping carts at the Mansfield Walmart.
Walmart shoppers Stan and Judy Garcia said, Thats plain theft, thats stealing thats all I got to say about it.
Kayla Whaling, a spokesperson for Walmart, tells KSLA News 12 that the company was fully engaged and monitoring the situation and transactions during the outage. We did make the decision to continue to accept EBT cards (and purchases on WIC and SNAP) during the outage so that they could get food for their families.
A spokesperson for the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (LA DSFS) says they take all allegations of potential fraud seriously, they are aware of the reports and they will be investigating. According to a notice posted on the LA DSFS website on Saturday:
While transactional systems maintained by DCFS contractors may have been impacted by todays outage, the systems that DCFS uses to track EBT card usage and identify fraud were still in place. DCFS vigorously investigates all fraud claims. Anyone suspected of fraudulently using public assistance benefits are investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The public is encouraged to report cases of suspected SNAP fraud by calling the DCFS toll-free hotline at 1-888-LAHELP-U and selecting option 7 from the main menu or by visiting:
www.dcfs.la.gov/ReportFraud.
Obama is the reason Park Rangers were instructed to make it as difficult as possible for Americans attempting to enter their parks and is the reason all federally owned lands must be returned to the states in which they're located. This central socialist government should own NO lands!
This empty-headed bozo is nothing but a Communist/Marxist/Muslim whose allegiance is to Allah and his financiers and handlers.
Fully orchestrated “panic” was a test run.
True.
on the other hand, we know DHS is well-armed and stocked with ammo, so maybe some herd-thinning is on the horizon
As opposed to “test run” I prefer to think of it as a “bargaining chip” in the budget showdown. “Here’s a taste of what’s to come if you don’t march to our orders.”

I agree, and this is what preppers have been talking about for over four years! (shtf)
When the money runs out, lock your doors and windows, and charge thy self-defense weapon.
Good point. I thought it was a “lab rat” type experiment, but it could have been a demonstration. Either way, this is inevitable. The movie “World war Z” is pretty close to the mark if you substitute the welfare crowd for zombies.
Howdy.
Walmart execs should have sent the cashiers home to safety, and manned the registers themselves.
No one should have honored the broken cards.
It is on walmart.
They could have brought in the riot police who were hanging around the war memorials in full gear (during a govt shutdown) with just nothing to do.
I have to say, I expect this and refuse to be intimidated by it. Why is walmart so intimidated by these lawless people?
This is only going to get more powerful. Who doesn’t know that?
Cut off the power now. Let the food stampers get an idea that they might need to plan for when the money runs out, and it will.
Obama cannot operate alone. The walmart execs are responsible for this enabling.
If you had any doubts about what is going to happen when the SHTF this should get rid of them.
Ping.
But you are correct in that the herd will definitely be thinned.
That was all it took. There were no riots, and the store was actually full. Of customers using THEIR OWN money.
During the outage, a Cleveland news station interviewed a very well dressed EBT cardholder who was furious. “How am I suppose to feed my family?!” Guess it didn’t dawn on her that she could pawn one of the numerous gold rope chains around her neck.
Well, ALDI is smart, and not bought and paid for.
Good.
Thinking ahead.
Something’s not right here. EBT is basically “free” food for the card holder. Why make a big run when it’s “free” anyway? I think a lot of people are on food stamps to free up cash for other purchases. The Democrats are using food stamps to buy votes from middle class Americans.
It is not pandemonium but rioting, soon to take place in your own house as the thugs beat you doors down to get what they think they deserve: your possessions.
It is why a homeowner needs to be armed
Are there ANY stores that don’t take EBT any more or is that against the law ,too?
Rumor has it that EBT cards will not be funded/recharged on Nov 1st.
