Seems like yesterday.
If there was a conspiracy to assassinate JFK, I have an odd chain of circumstances that might explain *why*, if not who or how.
Today, JFK is regarded as the poster boy for Addison’s disease, among his many other medical problems.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addison%27s_disease
While at the time this sickness was not widely known, Addison’s disease can cause, and in JFK’s situation, did cause, very unique and noteworthy changes to the skin of his upper body and face. A physician familiar with Addison’s would spot this immediately from several yards away.
JFK had been taking the only known treatment for Addison’s at the time, cortisone, for many years. It was a very expensive drug until the mid-1950s, when a way was found to synthesize it, so it suddenly became much cheaper, and a “wonder drug”.
However, there were concerns that taking a large amount of cortisone could make a person mentally unstable, even clinically paranoid and dangerous. Even though many doctors believed this back then, it is not true.
Then, in 1956, the top Hollywood actor James Mason, at the peak of his career, appeared in a movie called Bigger Than Life, about a man who had to take cortisone to save his life, but then turned into an insane, homicidal maniac.
His performance was described as “chilling”.

Finally what set it all off was the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the realization that JFK could on his own, start World War III, resulting in a world conflagration.
Thus the logical chain was complete.
JFK has a disease, the treatment for which requires him to take a large quantity of a drug that could (will?) turn him paranoid and violently insane. And this insanity could cause him to start World War III.
I will add that JFK had been asked to resign because of his medical conditions, and had refused.
Thus, *someone* could conclude that JFK is too dangerous to live.
The media totally destroyed Johnson, Nixon, Ford. The media elected Carter. Reagan beat the media the last President to do so.
Not a conspiracy theory, per se, but even though flawed, a chain of deduction.
That is, if you had been in a position of power at the time, and had this chain of deduction pointed out to you, how would you have grasped it? In summary:
1) The president has a severe disease, and the only drug he can take for it may be making him paranoid, psychotic, and homicidal.
2) The US has just been through a major crisis, in which either the president, or the USSR, could have started a nuclear war, and came very close to doing so.
3) The president refuses to leave office voluntarily.
Is there any possibility that given this information, you would agree that the president must be removed from office before he could start a war?
Kennedy was a good candidate for media promotion. He was handsome, likeable and probably personable. He unfortunately grew up in a family of intelligent, capable people who were almost totally immoral.
He shared some things with Clinton in that area.
I once met one of the PT boat commanders in Kennedy’s squadron. I talked to him a good bit about JFK. He said they all liked him. His actions after his boat was sunk were admirable. On the other hand he said getting a PT boat rammed by a destroyer was about the worst thing one could imagine for a PT boat captain.
As he said, they were the fastest thing on the water.
Wow... I guess it’s true, evil idiots on both sides.
The south must have truly sucked then. You know, no matter how much I disagree with Obama/Obummer, never would I be “glad” a fellow human being is shot. AND even more distressing is the fact how young you and your classmates were at the time - proof that “hate” is indoctrinated in children by their parents. It must have been tough to be the "Catholic girl" hearing you idiots gloat about the President being shot...
Humans must evolve so much more for us to have a true chance of peace among one another...Hate and religions make this truly impossible.
And, more significantly, on that same day CS Lewis died. It was overshadowed by the passing of Mr Kennedy.
And a Commie did it....not some rabid right-wing conspiracy, as the conspiracy whackos want to believe.
I agree with all conspiracy theories.
I figure that if there was a plot it would have come out by now.....thouh I’m still a lttle uneasy with what I consider some of the strange American intelligence activity that surrounded Oswald. Another odd thing is Oswald missing the first shot of the 3. Usually the first shot in any sequence is a hit with other shots becoming more difficult. But overall it’s most likely LHO did it alone.
I was in kindergarten and we were getting ready for naptime after lunch when the nuns ran into the room. They were all upset and brought in a tv. That was the first time they had ever brought a tv into a classroom.
Then I was home in the livingroom watching tv when Oswald was shot. We had just bought our first tv days before.
I was in the kitchen with my dad. He was watching it. I was in the room but missed it.
I was just coming out of a psychology class at Butler University when I heard screaming and crying.
Prayers for the entire Kennedy Family especially Caroline on this very difficult day.
Look at how the dems glorify Clintoon same thing
Look at the Republicans glorify Reagan same thing. Parties tend to gravitate towards great Presidents. Sorry but that is just the way it is.
A strange week followed. Everything came to a standstill. We watched the adults as they sat glued to the television I don't remember if the coverage was 24/7 that weekend, but it was close.
My cousins and I took turns laying on a bed posing as to how we thought JFK was positioned in his casket. The big question was did he have his hand over his heart. Kids latch on to the strangest things. We were no different.
My oldest cousin saw Oswald shot that Sunday morning. She got to skip Sunday School for some reason. We felt slighted because we missed the excitement. “Why does she get to have all the fun?” What can I say, we were just kids.
I do remember it was the first time in my life I grasped the finality of death. Until then, death had been an abstract idea, something I had not experienced up close and personal.

Nixon destroyed himself when he tried to cover up. That is the worst thing to do. If he would have fessed up on his sins, he might have been able to make it. Oh well too bad for him....his decision and his alone.
