Why Hispanics Dont Vote for Republicans By Heather Mac Donald November 7, 2012
The call for Republicans to discard their opposition to immigration amnesty will grow deafening in the wake of President Obamas victory. Hispanics supported Obama by a margin of nearly 75 percent to 25 percent, and may have provided important margins in some swing states. If only Republicans relented on their Neanderthal views regarding the immigration rule of law, the message will run, they would release the inner Republican waiting to emerge in the Hispanic population.
If Republicans want to change their stance on immigration, they should do so on the merits, not out of a belief that only immigration policy stands between them and a Republican Hispanic majority. It is not immigration policy that creates the strong bond between Hispanics and the Democratic party, but the core Democratic principles of a more generous safety net, strong government intervention in the economy, and progressive taxation. Hispanics will prove to be even more decisive in the victory of Governor Jerry Browns Proposition 30, which raised upper-income taxes and the sales tax, than in the Obama election.
And California is the wave of the future. A March 2011 poll by Moore Information found that Republican economic policies were a stronger turn-off for Hispanic voters in California than Republican positions on illegal immigration. Twenty-nine percent of Hispanic voters were suspicious of the Republican party on class-warfare grounds it favors only the rich; Republicans are selfish and out for themselves; Republicans dont represent the average person compared with 7 percent who objected to Republican immigration stances.
I spoke last year with John Echeveste, founder of the oldest Latino marketing firm in southern California, about Hispanic politics. What Republicans mean by family values and what Hispanics mean are two completely ....

I don’t expect this revelation will make a dent in the Bush/Rove/Rubio ‘give em amnesty’ school of thought, but its good its finally being written about.
I have resigned myself to the fact that my country is going down the crapper.
I don’t care.
Feliz Navidad
my take - hispanics, like the countries they come from, are highly class-divided. they have been this way for centuries, and it found its most obvious expression with socialism and corrupt statism.
The lower classes that have fled their own countries to come to the USA are pickled in the class-warfare rhetoric and thinking. Its part of their society, government and language. So its an easy thing for them to accept Obama’s class-warfare cliches, especially on a “rich” gringo like Romney.
The Free Sh*t Army won this election and hispanics are part of it.
“Twenty-nine percent of Hispanic voters were suspicious of the Republican party on class-warfare grounds it favors only the rich; Republicans are selfish and out for themselves; Republicans dont represent the average person compared with 7 percent who objected to Republican immigration stances.”
“U.S.-born Hispanic households in California use welfare programs at twice the rate of native-born non-Hispanic households.”
These two facts shred the arguments of those who claim we need to cave on controlling our borders. They should be repeated every time the issue comes up.
There is a large number of bi-national families who live in Mexico near the U.S. border. They have U.S. and Mexican citizenship. They come across the border to give birth and collect welfare and go home to Mexico. There must be hundreds of them all claiming to live at the same U.S. address. You should see the parking lot of the county welfare office in Chula Vista. The parking lot is full of cars with Baja California licence plates. These people consider themselves to be Mexican. The only reason they want U.S. citizenship is to get the freebies. Period.
First step might be to have a nominee that reflects conservative values?
It's been done here in southern New Mexico. I've posted the below on a couple of threads. It will amaze readers who haven't seen it:
In New Mexico, Congressional district 2 occupies the southern half of the state. The boundary is a slightly WNW-ESE line south of the I-40 corridor (south of Gallup, ABQ, Santa Rosa, Clovis). Republican registration is 34%. The area includes lots of Latino voters, the oil and gas fields, Mexican border counties and rural ranchers.Tea-party conservative Steve Pearce won re-election with 59.2% of the vote not only in the oil patch but in most counties too (The Democratic candidate was Evelyn Madrid Erhard). I'm not sure of his secret (besides hard work) but the GOPe needs to emulate this for future victories.
Democratic counties and percentages:
Republican counties and percentages:
- Bernalillo 45-54
- Cibola 49-50
- Dona Ana 47-52
- Grant 48-51
- Guadalupe 44-55
- Luna 49-50
- McKinley 49-50
One more thing -- Lea, Eddy and Chaves counties make up SE NM Oil Patch - jobs are plentiful, "help wanted" signs everywhere, and skills bring a premium salary and benefits. These folks vote to protect their jobs and are rightfully wary of what Obama will do shut down their livelihood.
- Catron 74-25
- Chaves 68-31
- DeBaca 72-27
- Eddy 67-32
- Hidalgo 60-39
- Lea 79-20
- Lincoln 71-27
- Otero 65-33
- Roosevelt 79-19
- Sierra 64-35
- Socorro 56-42
- Valencia 56-42
70-30 doesn’t mean “Hispanics” don’t vote Republican. I know lots that do and it’s because they share the same basic values, not the gimme crowd
So the difference isn't one of being Latino or non-Latino, and it isn't being legal or illegal. The answer lies in what you are not showing in the map that lies in NM-1.
This does not surprise me in the least. This whole hand wringing about “how do we win the hispanics” is an enormous waste of time. Personally, I am convinced and was even before this election that the ballot box has become a worthless lost cause. We have refused to secure our borders allowing people in who don’t give a flaming rat’s ass about the principles of liberty and the ideals this country was founded upon.
For the short term, my advice is to arm up and excercise one’s 2nd Ammendment rights as aggressively as possible.
Anyone who is white and unarmed in this coming society is probably as good as dead. Lock & Load.
OK. If a single, black mother of three living in a government apartment in Detroit had Will Smith ask her to come marry him and move into a mansion in Malibu with him, what do you think she would do? I think she’d be out the door with him in a minute. They don’t have any problem with people making a lot of money. Do they get jealous? Sure! We all do. So if it isn’t envy, then what is it?
They can though not since 2008 when Heather Wilson ran for Senate and lost in the primary to Pearce. Pearce lost in the general to Tom Udall, but came roaring back in 2010 to take the District 2 seat. Heather also lost the Senate seat in the general election last Tuesday.*
The answer lies in what you are not showing in the map that lies in NM-1.
I'm not going to speculate; what's your solution?
(*Heather lost to new US Senator, Martin Heinrich, who, with the help of the heavily Democratic and poverty-ridden area of northern NM and enviros in Santa Fe, is a radical left-wing nut job with documented ties to eco-terrorists (just as Obama has to the radical Bill Ayers). His comment on energy: "Oil and coal are fuels of the past."

“single, black mother of three living in a government apartment in Detroit had Will Smith ask her to come marry him and move into a mansion in Malibu with him”
She’d get better free sh*t!
You are not alone. Next year, I am outta here. I am going over seas. I have had the course.
