On Wednesday, an enthusiastic Obama supporter protesting Mitt Romney near Cleveland, Ohio, explained why she is voting for the president.
“Everybody in Cleveland, low minorities, got Obama phone. Keep Obama in president, you know. He gave us a phone, he gonna do more (sic),” the unidentified Obama supporter said in a video posted to YouTube.
When asked how the President gave her a phone, she explained that all she had to do was sign up for it.
"You sign up! If you on food stamps, you on social security, you got low income, you disability...,” she explained. The video cut away at that point.

When asked what is wrong with Romney, the Obama supporter was clear and succinct.
"Romney, he s**ks! Bad,” she said....

Which is why I'm not going to watch the video. I already heard Rush and Sean play it dozens of times today, and I just know I'd need a Vulcan mind-wipe to rid myself of the images, were I to view them.

I think during the debate with Obama, Romney has to lay it on the line plain and simple, ask the American people “Do you want to live under a Capitalist system, where you go to work, work hard, get a paycheck, support your families, live in freedom..or do you want to live under Communist rule, where you get an Obama house, Obama food, Obama gas, Obama phone, Obama clothes..and tell them, if you want to live under Communism, go ahead and vote for Obama because nothing I say will change your mind..that is what Romney has to do, tell people straight up in words they will understand what is at stake here and what do they want

in all seriousness...any “independent” voter who sees that, simply has to think, “you know, I’m not going to align with her”.
If that is not their reaction, then, she is likely a relative and they were never truly independent anyway.

I agree with you, but I think that, rather than frame it in terms of what Obama would give them, he needs to use the famous formula: “A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take away everything you have”. We are seeing that already in the thousands and thousands of pages of Obamacare; it claims to “give you” health care, but it demands that you pay a heavy price, either in taxes or in premiums or in taking away your choice of doctors and denying you a life-saving procedure if some gray, lifeless bean counter in Washington thinks the money could be spent better, say, for example, on new business jets for high-level bean counters.
I also think it is a mistake in any debate to concede that you won’t be able to change someone’s mind. I realize it has a certain rhetorical power, but at the same time it sends a message that the candidate has given up on some segment of the population.

If one person gets a $12,000 job and gets off of food stamps due to having a $120/yr phone, that's saves the government >$3600/yr. If they get off Medicaid that's another $1200/yr
Where is the incentive for these poor people to go look for a job if the government provides not only their needs, but their wants?

I agree with you, obviously Romney will have to frame it better than I would..but its just so sad hearing these people calling into Hannity’s show begging for Communism, its unbelievable that in 2012 people still will become slaves to the Govt just to get some scrapes thrown at them..I dont think they give a damn about anything as long as they can sit their asses at home and wait for a check to come from the Govt..as long as they dont have to pay for it they could care less. These people need to go to Venezuela and see what Communism gets them there..nothing but tyranny. Romney has to explain the differences between living in Freedom and living under Communism(Yeah who knew that in 2012 we would actually have to EXPLAIN to people why Communism is a bad thing) if people want Communism, what more can be said..it would be the day that America cried
Well there has to be jobs out there in the first place. Right now we have 25% unemployment. And it's not because people aren't incented to find a job. It's that most have been trying and having the same result as banging their head against a brick wall.
Sure there are some that have made welfare a way of life. But most people want a lot more than minimal food and a phone with a low number of minutes. Give them an opportunity for a good job and most will take it. The rest may need some form of intervention.
We need to raise the import tariffs back up, that our founding fathers had in place. Put American's back to work is the way to cut these benefits.

“working poor” or just lazy people? see, when gubmint does this “free stuff”, they don’t differentiate. private charities typically do and do so much better than the gubmint.
Better buy some tanning creme, a straw cowboy hat and some beat up western clothes. You go to social services looking middle class you’ll get Jack Squat.
