Rep. Joe Walsh of Illlinois, who boasts that he is a "Tea Party conservative first...and a Republican second," was emotional and animated in front a packed house of 350 at a town hall meeting this afternoon in northwest suburban Elk Grove Village.

I've attended enough of these meetings to know that it's best to start with the speaker's conclusion--the ideas of the meeting our usually summarized nicely at the end of it. So it was with Walsh today.

He reprised the theme of being "prepared to go to jail" to defend freedom in our country, which was the heart of a speech he made in March.

The Obama media are trying to say that Joe Walsh hates veterans.

Walsh: “Of course, Tammy Duckworth’s a hero”

My opponents are once again trying to accuse me of something that is not true. It has become their agenda this Fourth of July week to twist my words and claim I said my opponent is not a hero and have insulted all veterans as a consequence. Folks, if you’re familiar with me and my campaign, you know this is utterly false. Shame on her for saying this and shame on her for using veterans in this fashion.

In fact, recently on the Big John and Amy Show I stated, “Tammy Duckworth’s service demands our respect and that is something I will do and say for her throughout this campaign.” I open all my town halls byrecognizing our veterans who served to protect our great nation.

Tammy Duckworth knows this and should know better than to use her service and the service of others as a political ploy to distort my words and distract voters. We as a people are facing great problems in our country, and it is time for us to get serious and address them.

Just so you are all aware, I released the following statement earlier:

“Of course Tammy Duckworth is a hero. I have called her a hero 100’s of times in the past four months. Just like every man and woman who has worn the uniform, her service demands - demands - our utmost respect. That’s why I recognize our veterans at the beginning of every one of my public town halls. However, unlike most veterans I have had the honor to meet since my election to Congress, who rarely if ever talk about their service or the combat they’ve seen, that is darn near all of what Tammy Duckworth talks about. Her service demands our thanks and respect, but not our vote. She is running for Congress - and there are real problems in this country like our massive debt, high unemployment and the Obamacare tax. We are about four months from Election Day and the people of Illinois have no idea where Tammy Duckworth stands on these issues because she dodges debate requests, ignores our invitations to speak at town halls, refuses to talk about solutions, and constantly reminds voters of her war service. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with her for her service and her loss but these are serious times and the people of Illinois deserve to know what she thinks about real issues and what she will do as a Congresswoman.”

Let’s hold Tammy Duckworth and the Democrats accountable for trying these “gotcha tactics” when so many Americans are looking for solutions to the problems they face.

If Joe Walsh is your ‘cup of TEA’, please find the time, energy, and commitment to help get him reelected. Yes, it’s hot marching, but it’s nothing compared to what our troops are experiencing at this moment in the hell holes of the Middle East. If you’re healthy and able, he needs your assistance.
LET’S STOP BEING OBSERVERS AND GET ONTO THE ‘FIELD’ – OR, IN THIS CASE, ON THE STREET AND IN THE PARADE! The weather for Sunday may be iffy, but so what! So is our country’s future unless we get and remain involved! WE HAVE 123 DAYS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS NEXT ELECTION!
We all know how important it is to get the commitment and zeal of Joe Walsh back to Congress! It does not matter if he will be your Rep. he will be We the People’s Rep! With a late Independence Day parade this Sunday in Bartlett, what a great opportunity it would be to get several hundred patriots from all over the suburbs and Chicago to march with Joe this Sunday afternoon (information is below) and send a message to Tammy Duckworth and voters that his support is substantial and that we are serious about the importance of his representation. Many of us have asked for and received the willing participation of Joe at our respective events – now (and for the next 123 days) it’s time for us to reciprocate. Hope to see you on Sunday in Bartlett – imagine the statement we would be making to voters if we could get a few hundred people to march on Joe’s behalf!
Here is the information on the Bartlett Parade. We look forward to seeing you there!

It is on Sunday July 8th and starts at 1:00pm. We are meeting at 111 E. North Ave. in Bartlett at Bartlett Elementary School at 11:45am. We are spot #18B North Ave and the parade is 1.7 miles long. The best parking is near the Town Center.

Please wear your Walsh for Congress t-shirts and showing support for Congressman Walsh. Please know that Joe and Helene appreciate your support.
