New TV show coming fall 2012. After 15 years of darkness, an unlikely group sets out to save the world.
That’s the one.
I wonder how many people would voluntarily accept the aliens if they brought world peace with the price that some would end up as dinner on an alien planet? Certainly a higher percentage than when the “Twilight Zone” episode was first broadcast. The “Great Society” crowd would be all for it, if they kept their freebies, especially if the rich were eaten first.
LOL. The only thing believable was that the bad guy is an Obama clone.
It’s a COOKBOOK!
oh, the first couple episodes and pilot will be ok then as usual the show will fall in to stupid . the girl will end up leading “the revolution” ... blah blah blah . of course they’ll have a homosexual couple, some mis-understood arabs and some redneck white guy who threatens to kill people all the time
To Serve Man
Series: The Twilight Zone
Writer: Rod Serling, based on the story by Damon Knight
Director: Richard L. Bare
Apparently benign alien emissaries show mankind how to end the misery of war, plague and famine. The Kanamits, nine-foot tall aliens, arrive on Earth with one lofty goal: To Serve Man. They end war, they end famine. They make the military wonder: what's the catch?

Sheeet, you beat me to it! :)
Considering some of the post I’ve been reading lately 15 years seems a bit optimistic to me. ;-)
Is it a scifi series? The Cubs winning is over the top and unbelievable, even for scifi.
I'm a prepper but all I have to say to the above is Used Bull Food!
Generating Electricity is not that hard, you just need a energy source. A running stream is probably the easiest and most reliable. Wind is also easy but you need a way to store the electricity for use when the wind is not blowing. Wet cell batteries for storage are not that hard to make. From those first two sources you can quickly develop coal burning electrical generation.
If the entire grid vanished we would have electricity being generated inside a few weeks and be back up and running in a couple of years. In a decade everything would be back the way it was.
The only way this works is with a "Dies the Fire" type world where the laws of chemical reactions are changed.
Yes, but could you do it while fighting the zombie hoards, winning the girl and look good while doing it all?
Friend of mind grew up in the Alaskan bush. Same age as me, 40’s.they had a large smokehouse for preserving meat(fish) & canned their food.
Another friend of mine, same age, grew up on a remote ranch here in Wyoming. No electricity. She is one heck of a cowgirl. Big family, 8 kids.
It’s very possible to live without electricity
Well, I would not be winning the girl and I clean up respectable but during the build I would be a major mess. :)
As for the zombie hoards I will leave them to my sharpshooters. My boys would be very disappointed if I took their fun away from them.
But you take my point, even if you don't know how to build a power generator just knowing that generating electricity is possible means that you know more then humans knew for 99% of our history. From there you only need to hunt for the information on how to do it. It is written down in a number of books.
If all the books were burnt and there were only a handful of people left it would take longer but it would still end up being done. It is just too useful for us to shrug and say "oh well, let's get the candles out."

Speaking of far-fetched, Tom Clancy's The Sum of All Fears had the Vikings *leading* in the Super Bowl...on the strength of a running back.
Cheers!
I also notice that since the power went out they are reduced to using flintlock rifles and bows. I guess regular firearms won’t work either.
Abrams has made donations to the Democratic Party. Campaigns he has contributed to include those of Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Bill Bradley, John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, Bob Casey, Jr., Mark Udall, Harry Reid, Russ Feingold, and Patrick J. Kennedy. However, he has also donated $2,000 to the Republican Robert Vasquez.
We can guess that global warming is probably the culprit here.
The planned end of the show has been leaked. So read below if you don't care about spoilers.
The long term plan is, that towards the final run of the show they'll introduce some characters we haven't seen before and no one cares about. The show will then follow them and their story largely ignoring the ones the shows been about. A couple of these characters will be fighting over a key which won't be explained. Eventually one of them gets the keys after out smarting the other. He'll then walk into a cave and find a rock with a rusty lock in it. There'll be a mysterious yellow light coming out of the hole. He'll stick the key in, turn it and all the power will come back on and the show ends. The plan is to disappoint anyone that stuck with the show and enjoyed the characters and the story. Those that are disappointed will then find no comfort in the explanation of, "it doesn't matter how it ended, or why anything happened. It was about the journey." |

Denial is not just whistling Dixie.
The warlord looks like 0.
