Garland TX wants everybody's house keys
Examiner.com ^ | 11/15/2011 | Garry Reed

Posted on 11/22/2011 6:04:11 AM PST by servo1969

Garland wants to be your boss, your big brother, your nanny, your wet nurse and your house sitter all rolled into one.

Heather Fazio, Texas Libertarian Party Membership Coordinator, issued the following Action Alert about Garland's city council meeting scheduled for November 14:

Council is requested to consider the recommendation of the Building and Fire Code Board and the Plumbing and Mechanical Code Board to adopt the 2009 International Fire, Residential, Building, Energy Conservation, Plumbing, Mechanical, Property Maintenance and Fuel Gas Codes along with local amendments.

What this means, Fazio explains, is that the city wants to make it mandatory for everyone to place a key box, like the ones used by real estate agents, on all doors to local businesses and homes so the Fire Department, or whomever they appoint, can enter your home or business at any time.

If you have a gate, they want a copy of that key too. "If you refuse," Fazio says, "the City will be able to refuse services, i.e., let the fire burn!"

Just forget to put the key in the lockbox. Or put a different key in. If they only do use it for emergencies they will have to decide while at the site to allow a fire to burn/crime to occur/injured person bleed out because the key isn't working or just break down a door. If they try the key in a non-emergency situation they will have a very hard time explaining it.

I would also consider placing a tamper evident seal on the key box to see if anyone had accessed it.

In the not so distant past, there was a very good use for tar, feathers, and rails. Perhaps that time has again arrived.

Yep. Split-rail fences are not all that common these days, though... not even in Texas. I'm sure those "landscape timbers" at Home Depot would do nicely in a pinch.

There's a great "tar and feathers" scene set at the port of Boston in the John Adams miniseries. John disapproved, but Sam just smiled.

My daughter’s friend in New Jersey was recently “surprised” when she walked into her kitchen, and a fireman was standing there.

This is the plot to just about every porn movie I've ever seen.

I'd bet dollars to doughnut holes that this, too, is part of UN Agenda 21.

Breaking doors and windows is much quicker, and I assume the police, fire dept. are REALLY there on some Emergency, OR something!!!!, and we all know that ALL public servants are honest, right?

Using these Combo Key safes is just STUPID, I use these types of Combo key holders on my rentals, they are not that easy, many times I will punch in the wrong code.

While they fumble with that key safe, they could have already been inside the house/business and saved someone.

Agenda21?

I don’t think the issue here is the durability, ruggedness, or armor of the lockbox. They do look quite solid.

The PRINCIPLE is that now, anyone who has access to this lockbox, can on a whim, without a search warrant, without plausible reason - enter your home at will.

If the TSA is having problems with theft of customer luggage, what will allowing the entire police force, ambulance service, Utility and Firemen have complete and total access to your home; at any time, for any reason or no reason at all?

Why do you always say that? It’s blatantly false. You seem to be the only one that gets a virus from the Examiner. I click on it all the time and none NEVER even get alerts from my anti-virus or spyware programs. If you have your computer protected you will not get a virus. If you don’t then don’t blame the Examiner, blame yourself.
I just clicked on the link 3 times and then clicked on some of the links on the webpage. I then checked my logs to see if any of my programs blocked any bad things from the website, they did not.

Hgunner only gets his news from what the MSM wants to tell him.

If it’s raining outside, he doesn’t believe it until someone on the Weather Channel tells him it’s Global Warming.

Good thinking, except it doesn't factor in incrementalism.

Once the custom gets established, the fire chief will be doing inspections and checking to make sure your key is the correct one. If not, you will be notified, threatened with forfeiture of service, threatened with a fine of some dollars PER DAY, and subject to reinspection. This will all be upheld by courts because after all, if your house burns, your neighbor's house is imperiled.

Much better to nip it in the bud.

Why are you so afraid of citizen journalism?

How long have you been equating dislike with fear?

I think Lima beans suck. Does that mean I fear them?

If you dislike Lima beans, that’s fine.

If you insist that they never be placed anywhere on the table where you can see them, that’s fear.

Our Founding Fathers would have already been hanging them by now. Hell, they would have been finished by now!
