I use the word "survivalist" in the most all-encompassing way, meaning that anyone who wants to/plans to survive a fairly good sized disaster falls into this category. As a survivalist, you need these ten things if you want to have a chance of coming out the other side of a disaster in a rather whole manner.

I agree with both posts. I have often valued your opinion on these threads, so I hope you have no hard feelings. I just think the “blog pimp” label is thrown around too often, especially when people are doing their best to inform people and maybe one day save their lives. This article may not be life saving, but it may pique some’s interest, who knows.
“But it is unkind to lure old folks and children across a busy highway without giving a REAL training session first.”
True, but I’m unwilling to halt use of the information superhighway until a select few get educated. They do always have the option to ask for more details, I do that often (especially at times when I don’t understand something). I agree that people should make every attempt to post as much of an article as they can, and now some people have, so I guess that point’s moot so I won’t beat it to death. I suppose we can all benefit from more courtesy. Take care, and God bless.
Most things that go bump in the night aren’t zombies. Years ago I went out on the deck and pounded on the siding to scare away something in the bushes below. I learned that doesn’t work too well on skunks and they leave a reminder of that lesson on the siding that lasts for months. lol
How about "A .22 is tool I never thought I would need. You need to get over yourself."
I think you've proved my point, doctor.
I'm not urban anymore. Family matters made that required. Even if it kills me.
So I'm suburban. And raising pigs and shooting guns is unlawful. And I'm very careful never to get caught doing those things.
But I am very practical about not allowing problems to continue. Or putting meat on the table.
And before the tragic boating accident I had plenty of .22s of every decription, on the theory that a butter knife can get you a steak knife can get you whatever you need.

I can always use a blessing. You, too.
I will continue on insisting that the basics be covered. ;)

Nothing you posted made any sense. Sober up and try again tomorrow. I am rural. You sound like an urban commando at a keyboard.
That's pretty. I guess you don't live in an environment where a) thugs would yank your arm off, or b) a cougar or bear would eat you.
You must be on middle ground. Where they still have skunks.

Worst encounters I’ve ever had in the woods have been with skunks. I’ve never been sprayed but the dang things own the ground they walk on and they know it.
I'm back where I am because I am.
But if you never saw a point in owning a .22, you aren't too bright.
Not everyone is compensating for something by dragging around a .45.
Some of us own .22s.

We have bears, mountain lions and there have been gang banger types around the last few years. I don’t know where you come up with the assumptions you make.
Ah... Colorado.
How many have you had in your back yard in the last 3 years?

Is that enough recent wildlife for whatever point you are trying to make?
bflr
Or is this the rural only survival?
Skunks come in different disguises.
Some folks are ready for some things, and clueless about the others.
Some just take it as it comes and treat all alike.
I postulate that anyone with a good, basic understanding of nature, physics, and life can manage in most environments, city or country.

No one gives me any crap. Do you have a point to make or are you just making your bones as the biggest jackass to post on FR?
That's a ratty little pocket pistol that's only good at point blank range, BTW.
It's not my primary carry either, but it's always there.
