If the schools knowingly harbor an illegal, they need to be treated like a company who hires an illegal! FINE THEM, send the kids and their illegal parents back to their own country for an education.

Rick Perry, I like you. But a little word of advise. You are not going to get very far by calling your audience “heartless”.That word is exclusively owned by Democrat campaigners. They could sue you for plagarism.

I understand the plight of kids who were brought here when they were young and know no other country. They can become citizens—but until they do, why should they stand ahead of citizens from adjoining states for in-state tuition benefits?

I paid out-of-state benefits when my kids went to college. Why should a non-citizen get subsidies I don’t get? That’s not the same as not educating them, especially if they get on a path to citizenship—it’s just removing a benefit they get that the citizens of 49 out of 50 states do not.

In-state tuition for illegals ought to cause immediate lawsuit for out-of-state legal kids to get the same tuition. Beyond encouraging illegal immigration, it is very clearly an issue of equality before the law. The illegal and the out-of-stater are on the same footing with regard to the reason for having in-state tuition.

I could not disagree with your position any more vehemently, although I will not engage in personal attacks over it.

I’m confused - are we talking about children, or college aged adults?

Perhaps it’s a bit cynical on Perry’s part but he may simply be one of the first Republicans to realize that large numbers of the illegals get to vote here. They have heretofore been a wholly owned subsidiary of the democrats. I don’t agree with providing benefits to illegals but I really don’t agree with letting their vote saddle us with another four years of obama.

I’m not sure what to do since simple, workable solutions seem pretty scarce.

Perry stated the truth...most of the other debaters just said what people wanted to hear. A big bunch of liars especially Mittens. Bachmann says cut off all government monies to the illegals...boy, do I agree with that...but on Bachmann’s part it is nothing more than rhetoric...what the crowd and the tv audience wanted to hear.

He's from a huge border state. Perry has boots on the ground, and doing what he can to keep illegals out. A state can't do it alone. The Feds are worthless.
It's like having a stray dog hanging around your house. You can't shoot it. It won't leave. The dog catcher won't do anything about it, and if it doesn't get food, it's going to get mean. You have a choice. Feed it outside and let it live out there and maybe come in handy someday, or try to fight off a raving, starving dog with your own bare hands.

Granted, I don't believe illegals should get anything at all. That way, there would be no incentive for them to come here. We wouldn't need boots or fences. AND - it would all be free! It wouldn't cost the American tax payer one red penny! Unfortunately, when it comes to D.C., - "It's the votes, stupid."

Aah, the fangirls are still at it.

The problem for Perry is that to use his voice he has to open his mouth and when he does, he sticks both feet in (cowboy boots and all).

After the next debate St. Rick will be polling below Santorum.

Sorry, but you, your candidate, and the Perry Apologist who wrote this article lack principles on this issue.

You don’t make it easier to stay in this country if the person is here illegally.

And most important, the children of illegal immigrants are the responsibility of the Illegal Alien, not the State and not the citizens of that State.

By pushing this emotional crap of a position on this issue, Perry, and his supporters have taken up the Progressive Idea that it is somehow the State’s responsibility, and by extension, it’s citizens to take care of the children of somebody else when they are perfectly able to take up that responsibility themselves.

Take the “We are the world” mentality somewhere else.

Well, I for one will wear the mantle of “heartless” proudly if that’s the way Perry wants to frame his muddled, speech-impaired, argument. He can take his illegal loving RINO garbage and head on back to ol’ Texas. I won’t miss him a bit.

Is it too much to ask that our politicians put America’s citizens first? Why give rights to those who broke our laws? Is this what is now fashionable, and breaking the law(s) of our nation is a requirement to obtain citizenship and rights? If this is the way it is forever and forward in America and the way thing are going to be ... why should I or any other law-abiding citizen bother with saving this Republic for future generations? Future generations will say I was wrong for allowing this abomination. Once there was a fact of The Rule of Law being obeyed predominately within this nation, now The Rule of Law and our Constitution is shredded everyday by the ruling elite and becoming a memory. While not wanting to walk away from our nation under siege, I truly have to wonder is fighting for and trying to Preserve, Protect, and Defend this current set of circumstances being thrust upon all the law-abiding worth the effort where the lawless are looked upon with favor while the law-abiding are asked to pay for another’s lawlessness. Our ruling elite have given their answer. What will be America’s answer?

The Texas Dream Act is not the same as the rejected Federal Dream Act proposed by the U.S. Senate because that federal legislation in totality and reality was an immigration bill.

By that logic RomneyCare is not the same as ObamaCare, but Perry says it is. How convenient for him.

Ricardo Perry is proving himself to be the same brand of folksy, twangy, Bible-carrying "Compassionate Conservative" statist Texan as his predecessor Jorge Bush was. Praise the Lord and pass the Amnesty!

As the spouse of a LEGAL immigrant abiding by America's laws, as I was/did in her country for many years, Ricardo Perry can K.M.A.!!

For Those Of You Who Believe What You Hear Without Checking Your Facts: Governor Rick Perry Doesn’t Spport Illegal Aliens-—> “To Qualify For The Texas In-State Tuition Rate They Have To Turn Themselves Into Immigration Officials And Be In The Process Of Acquiring Citizenship. It Is Exactly Like US Military Service= If You Aren’t A US Citizen You Can Still Serve As Long As You Are In The Process Of Acquiring Citizenship.”
