Today Michele Bachmanns spokesman, Ed Rollins, whom she recently hired, had some rather nasty things to say about Governor Palin. In order to give Bachmann the benefit of the doubt, we respectfully request that she either affirm her support for the long-time beltway fossils idiotic comments or refudiate them.
Update: (h/t Jim R) Via the Star Tribune, another of Bachmanns employees, Andy Parrish, attempted to rationalize the comments of her newest employee, Ed Rollins:
Bachmann aide Andy Parrish said Rollins was not speaking as a Bachmann adviser. The Congresswoman and Ms. Palin have an excellent relationship, Parrish said in an e-mail. Rollins was in his media analyst role.
People can judge for themselves whether this convenient excuse explanation is credible
or not.

Call 651-260-4648 to tell her what you think about Rollins!
BTW, Rollins doubled down on his attack against Palin with Chris Matthews today.
Beltway insider Rollins is much too cemented to the GOP to work with a candidate with tea party ideals.
I understand the “need” to have one of those types to connect with some of the movers and shakers in DC.
But those types in their hearts only want the next in line imo.
His actions are putting a black mark on Bachmann's chances of moving up.
But if there isn't a “clean” one out there, it's best to do without one.
Bachmann needs to trust the tea party movement and tea partiers, the real grassroots now 10’s of millions strong.
Rollins is too set in his ways to learn tea-speak and take the movement into his heart.
It's time perhaps to throw out the good old boys and work with those that do not have an agenda to get a GOPer in the white house as a primary goal. Secondary yes.
Grassroots and the New Media is the key.
Heck, Bachmann should come here to FR for an "interview" and she could find a bunch of more politically advantageous to her "consultants" that will not make her look bad.
Rollin's is a contributor at CNN? Hmmmm
Why not get Tucker Carlson, he's at Fox. LOL JK, bow tie liberal poofter.
PS, unless Rollins succeeds in "turning" Bachmann, she will drop out and support Palin sometime after Palin announces.
“I canNOT see Michele approving of a spokesperson trashing ANY other candidate!”
I agree. It is not her style.
Regardless what thinking (or drinking) went into hiring the old goat, a Reagan alum, the decision should now be considered a mistake.
And an opportunity.
Michele could apologize, send Mr. Ed to the glue factory and publicly kiss-kiss with Sarah. And be sitting better than ever.
Remember, Sarah would not exist if she had not voluntarily associated herself with a real RINO who is despised by we TEA folk with more regularity than is Rollins. And she (understandably) still speaks highly of him. And I forgive her that obvious lack of purity.
Reagan wasn’t perfect either. Regardless what his employee Rollins might say.
Nobody is the perfect candidate. Christ ain’t running.
If Michele corrects the Rollins gaffes (which were actually fairly tame and truthful observances from an establishment type analyst’s view point) reasonable folks will forgive her the very early pre-pre-season blunderous hire.
If that talking mule had not just reportedly been hired for Michele’s soon to appear formal campaign, then his comments about Sarah would not be news.
But... if my belle Michele does not recognize this opportunity to demonstrate her ability to take command on short notice, then her candidacy could be history.
Which would be a sad day for the TEA party movement she so visibly and energetically supports.
“And whats with the they?”
I meant those who are making the very conservative, very TEA supportive and very hard-working Bachmann sound like some kind of Romney plant or other such nonsense.
I feel sure that if she is the kind of person I have thought she was, she will do the right thing. She has always, no matter if you support her or not, done the right and proper things. Nothing underhanded!
Of course, if they truly run against each other, the velvet gloves come off of each of them. And that is to be expected!
“We will attack (Gov.) Palin (who helped me) for you.”
That’s a nice photo of one TEA partier and one RINO supporting TEA party Sarah’s RINO mate McCain.
What’s the point?
She damn well better do it tonight. No later.
Rollins bad mouthed her last election cycle. Michele has made a big mistake here especially as she says she and Sarah are good friends..Michele should not stand for that.
Obviously Bachman isn’t ready for prime time. Even Perot fired Rollins and she hires him? LOL She needs some executive experience before she has aspirations.
“I feel sure that if she is the kind of person I have thought she was, she will do the right thing.”
It’s good to see there are some cooler, reasonable heads here.
The knee-jerk reactions are unfortunate, but not new.
I don’t like Rollins either and would not hire him myself (of course the prestigious position of third programmer on the right probably does not require a campaign anyway).
But it is worthy of note that the criticisms here of Michele don’t, unless I missed them, offer any alternate TEA-approved names of experienced, presidential level and available campaign help.
I could not name one either.
If one can’t be found, then perhaps the muzzle McCain’s people put on Sarah in ‘08 will fit Mr. Ed. I assume she is done with it whether she runs or not.
Sarah is great, but not a candidate as far as we know.
Michele is great and likely official this month.
Cain is great as far as I know of him, regardless of the Fed work.
The Pauls have some great ideas.
Even the moderates and RINOs are moving hard right.
It’s a great time to be a conservative Republican.
It’s not productive to permanently write off a really fine candidate who, currently, has a new hire with a big mouth when she has not even been given the chance to affirm or punish the remarks.
I am not so fatally impatient. I will wait for Michele to address the matter. Those who do not feel she has earned that respect, at the VERY least, are folks I would not count on for much of anything serious.
Well, I have been following Michele...and Sarah...on Facebook and watched them in other venues when possible and they are both worthy candidates.
That said...I will vote for Sarah as first choice. If she does decide not to run, Michele would be my close second choice...VERY close.
Cain...West....Spence....Ryan....all up there as the best we have!
Such a wonderful relationship that now Bachmann’s spokesman follows on Rollins by referring to Bachmann as ‘the Congresswoman’ and Palin as ‘Ms. Palin’?
Dear Michelle...compared to Sarah Palin you are insignificant, please reconsider running as a spoiler against Gov Palin.
You are not Presidential!
“Obviously Bachman isnt ready for prime time.”
That has been said of all my faves: Sarah, Michele, Cain...
And I’ll have to admit that while Obama has set the experience bar extremely low, he also demonstrates what you can sometime get with such a gamble.
But the ‘executive experience’ phrase is not magic either. Romney’s got it and, rather than being an asset, it is an albatross.
I called and left a message. I was polite, just said Michelle, you are making a terrible terrible mistake, the idea that you would even consider running against Gov Palin, just shows such poor judgment. Please reconsider so we can start respecting you again.
That`s all I said.
I think that statement is a spoiler in your message.
Palin isn't running, and Bachmann it seems will declare next week.
Then she will be running against all of the other declared candidates.
When Palin gets in the race, Bachmann will shortly after drop out and support Palin.
There will be great exodus from other declared candidates to Palin.
At that time, the GOP will pull out all of the stops to try to marginalize, demonize and destroy Palin so they can get their "next in line" guy nominated.
Probably Mitt, but maybe Gingrich (oops he went belly up) or Huckabee (he's out, but may jump back in--he forced Mitt out last time) or maybe one of the semi-good guys like Pawlenty etc.
“Dear Michelle...compared to Sarah Palin you are insignificant”
Taking sides is fine. Claiming that the sitting Congresswoman who has at least announced her announcement and who just beat Sarah head-to-head by 20 points on Palin’s own network is ‘insignificant’ is simply not ‘serious’.
I wish Sarah would make a decision. If it is ‘no’, some people are going to need time to adjust apparently. It’s possible she has decided some time ago, which would make her less than honest. It’s possible she has not decided, which will soon be seen, rightfully, as an indication of indecision.
I’d probably vote for her. But not as a write-in.
And Reagan...heh
who just beat Sarah head-to-head by 20 points on Palins own network....
Have no idea what you are talking about? Could you elaborate please?
“the idea that you would even consider running against Gov Palin, just shows such poor judgment.”
Good Lord!
Unless your tongue is firmly planted in cheek, you are losing it.
Your statement would not be reasonable even if Sarah was currently a candidate - which she is not!
Did you call Mitt, Herman, TPaw, etc.?
Is it because Michele is a woman?
How about calling Sarah to see if she is as committed to you are you are to her.
Why are so many freepers mentally milling around hoping or wondering if she'll dump Rollins and apologize to Palin? Folks, she's covering for him and while doing so is getting stuck even deeper in the tar pit.
She's doing just what we don't want pols to do....slippin' and sliding'.
Fatal errors on her part in cahoots with her RINO hiree. She can't be trusted again on anything as far as I'm concerned.
