I just Got Back From The Grocery Store($4 For A Gallon of Milk)

Posted on 05/15/2011 5:13:18 PM PDT by Dubya-M-DeesWent2SyriaStupid!

The meats were like a bad joke gone bad. $7-10 for a small package of chicken breasts. I got enough food for a week and it was $107. The cashier lady told me some woman (when she noticed) milk at $4 a gallon asked if there was s milk shortage. Are people this stupid?

I am truly afraid for this country in so many ways and as the cashier lady said she told the ditz lady it will get far worse before it gets better. And the cashier was in her 20's and she figured this out- so there is some hope this age group knows to vote out Impeach Obama NOW!

A number of years ago I took my grandmother to Austin to receive the “Family Land Heritage Award” from Susan Combes (TX Ag Secretary). For a farm that had been continuously operated by the same family for over 100 years. There were some that got 150 year awards at the same time. Some older.

They had photo’s on the stage blown up to 6 feet height. The only single photo was of my great-grandfather, the rest were group photo’s. It took 1/2 a day for my father to regain his composure after seeing that. I have that photo and many others, but don’t plan to post on the web.

We tried to get the blown-up photo, but were unsuccessful. I am sure it cost a lot to produce and they used it with a moving display around the state.

Some of the land my uncle and father work has been in the family for over 110 years.

That’s sad. Isn’t the cost of living high in Alaska?Like lower 48 states like DC,Ca. Hawaii? People get all excited job hunting when they see the salary for these areas and think they will be rich.

Too hot for me! Have to pass on anything but the sweet peppers.

I bet there’s no way to freeze eggplant. I’ll have to eat ‘em as they grow.

Got a few kinds of squash plants, cauliflower, kohlrabi, red cabbage.

The garden will be a nice place to shop and no driving to the store, just walk out the back door...

We canned and froze lots of stuff when I was a kid. Mom knew how to do it all, even made pickles, pickled banana peppers, jams, canned tomatoes, made grape jelly, strawberry.

Had our own beef, chicken, eggs, pigs. Oh the good old days!

You could try using the Walmart price guarantee. Their new policy says you don’t have to have the ad just tell the cashier whose got it for a cheaper price. I would say that as long as you get the “walmart” milk (i.e. the store brand)that should be acceptable. You can always try and see what happens. That way if you can get it at Walmart you’d save the gas money too.

Some of the Super Targets in the Minneapolis suburbs have for $3.99 or $4.39 or so, half gallons of milk from cows which are exclusively grass-fed.

You can taste the difference, but we can no longer afford it.

Cheers!

Don’t have nor ever heard of Aldi’s.

IIRC they are a German owned firm; I have seen their stores in Des Moines, Minneapolis and (I think) Madison and Chicago...

They don't take coupons and are chronically understaffed; and they have non-name-brand foods; and lesser selection. Great for staples, the quality is just as good as the other stores.

Cheers!

Oh, good idea. I can probably find the Aldi price on their website and take it to my Walmart, and I always buy the house brand.

Save $4 on milk, and it’s a gallon of gas!
