A small weekly paper in California claims that a White House official asked it to remove a sentence from a benign feature about Marine One because it reflected poorly on first lady Michelle Obama.
In an email to The Daily Caller, Gina Channell-Allen, president of the Pleasanton Weekly in Pleasanton, California, said that her paper received a call from the White House asking us to take out part of the story because it reflected poorly on the First Lady.
The story in question was a soft feature about Marine One titled, Inside Marine One, President Obamas helicopter, that ran in the paper on April 20. Pleasanton staffer Amory Gutierrez didnt get to ride in Marine One, she wrote in her story, but I did get the VIP tour and took photographs of the otherwise unseen aircraft.
She also wrote a sentence that the White House thought made FLOTUS look snooty.
Basically the reporter said that the First Lady didnt speak to the pilots but acknowledged them by making eye contact, Allen wrote in her email.
Allen says she complied with the White Houses request because it was not worth making a fuss over.
She added, I thought it was interesting, though, that the [White House] was concerned enough about image to contact a little weekly paper in Pleasanton.
The White House communications office did not return requests for comment.
Allen said she emailed TheDC after reading about the San Francisco Chronicles recent spat with the White House communications office.

I’m worried that the White Hut, the bureaucrats, the politicians of both parties and the Judges are ALL Fascists!!
Inside the General Aviation building they were very nice, but not apologetic. You do not ever approach a marine helicopter. I asked if I could drive the fuel truck and fuel them when it came time for their departure? I was told I could drive the truck down the flight line, and wait by the truck while they pumped their own fuel. They actually post a 24 hour armed guard group on security to make sure their aircraft stays secure.
No offense, but they really don't want to talk to the first lady either, regardless of who she may be. One very professional bunch of hands-on types who would just as soon shoot you dead than to let you near the aircraft.
The press was right about the constant eye contact thing. They are aware of your every move and possible risk.
The Press.
They are told what questions they may ask.
They are told what answers they may give.
The Fourth Estate is a pathetic joke. Even as it reaches down into a tiny little podunk weekly.
Hey lady. When your poll numbers are in the toilet, image is everything. They don't want the 4 people that read your rag to have a bad opinion of such a stellar person.
When the first lady is on board any aircraft, it’s call sign is changed to “Millenium Falcon #1”.
She thinks she’s better than those pilots? Dream on Michelle.
Anything negative about POTUS and FLOTUS. das ist verboten dumkofs.

Having worked in the business during my college years, the topic of a story occasionally asks for and/or is occasionally given the opportunity to review a story before it goes to print.
This was more common when the topic was something highly technical or scientific, for the obvious reasons that journalists could often get the facts mixed up. It was not so common when the topic was political. In fact, it would be seen as butt-kissing by most professionals at the time, even on a campus newspaper.
Given the close working relationship of the enemedia and the Democrat Party today, I suspect it is more or less of a routine thing and it was probably a "strong suggestion" to a little California newspaper which was not a member of the team.
OZbama he knows all, he sees all, he is all.
He is full of it.
Anybody know if Izvestia and Pravda were under the same scrutiny?
Ah yes. That pesky First Amendment just isn't worth making a 'fuss' over now that your democrat savior is in office, is it?
Can you IMAGINE how this person would have reacted if someone from the Bush administration asked her to change ANYTHING, no matter how trivial, in one of her stories?
I can picture phrases like "outrageous abuse of power" and "unbelievable audacity" being bandied about by her with reckless abandon -- not to mention the 4 or 5 days worth of three to four times per hour coverage in the MSM 'news' cycle.
You can bet that if the White House is concerned about statements about in a small town weekly California paper that reflect negatively on the President and First Lady, they are all over this place. There is probably a list of screen names associated with real names floating around somewhere. Beware. Totalitarians hate dissent.

Big brother has eyes and ears everywhere. Tell me this nation is not in it’s death throes. I pity our children and grandchildren. They will never know what freedom is.
From the excerpt:

It all depends on what the meaning of fuss is.
“When the first lady is on board any aircraft, its call sign is changed to Millenium Falcon #1.”
Of course they are not allowed to abbreviate the call sign because the penalty would be .............................
I used to fly a "2 Kilo Gulf",(2 Kilo's) and a "Niner, Niner, delta, echo(dead eagle).
