An expert witness from the University of Montreal made this astonishing claim in front of a parliamentary committee debating a bill that would increase Canada’s punishment of pedophiles:
“Pedophiles are not simply people who commit a small offence from time to time but rather are grappling with what is equivalent to a sexual orientation just like another individual may be grappling with heterosexuality or even homosexuality,” emphasized Van Gijseghem.“True pedophiles have an exclusive preference for children, which is the same as having a sexual orientation. You cannot change this person’s sexual orientation.” He added, however: “He may however remain abstinent.”
This claim is astonishing because Dr. Hubert Van Gigjseghem portrays himself as an expert in “extra-familial sexual abuse” and forensic psychology, yet he appears completely unaware of the actual classifications of child molesters. Few child abusers are exclusively attracted to children and those who are generally fall into the either the “mysoped” category - sadists who seek to harm children for sexual gratification - or the “fixated” child molesters whose interest in children is a symptom of pathological immaturity.
The vast majority of so-called pedophiles are “situational” offenders. These people have no real interest in children but for a variety of reasons prey on them for sexual gratification, mainly because children are easier victims to manipulate and control.
Leftists have long accepted the “orientation” argument from pedophiles, partly driven by their blind acceptance of the fraudulent Alfred Kinsey reports that were used to normalize adults molesting children and partly influenced by the “pro-choice” feminist culture which devalues children and sees them as objects that shouldn’t be allowed to get in the way of an adult’s interests. But increasingly, people on the right, especially libertarians, have also accepted this view of child sexual exploitation as an “orientation.”

Yes homosexuality is bad. Yes homosexual pedophiles tend to go after dozens or often hundreds of victims.
None the less, a seven year old girl raped by her uncle or older brother or step-dad or mommy's boyfriend is just as damaged. Not even if she is the only victim the creep ever has. That is in no way a lesser crime and any other pervert who tries to discount that sort of thing from the statistics (as the author of this crappy piece undeniably did) is deserving of ridicule.
Pedophilia is a bad thing. Homosexuality is a bad thing. Neither one should be discounted as a bad thing when the other is missing.
You can expect that I will oppose both of those bad things, and will not fall prey to any divide and conquer strategy conceived to reduce opposition to one or the other. Both of them are wrong all the time.

The logic—that it is an orientation—is correct. It is learned. People are not born with a desire to rape children....usually they are sodomized as children.

The reason we have Sex Ed in schools is to break down the morality of children—remove morality from the sex act— and introduce them to ideas that they were never designed to have at 5 and 6— such as homosexual unions......which they would never have if not taught it.

One of the things that really bugs me is the way the leftists pile onto the Catholic Church regarding pedophile priests when the fact of the situation is that practically every one of them is a homosexual. Nobody comments on how the homosexual community has infiltrated that church so they can prey on little boys.
Why do so few speak out in these terms? I’m one Protestant that agrees with you, I’ve long thought your seminaries were deliberately infiltrated.

It is what I have always known....I think instinctually, because I had four boys and one girl and was a very involved mother and took child development and psychology for fun.
I was very aware of the messages the popular culture was trying to indoctrinate into the children....the “values clarification” to undermine moral absolutes and Christian ethics...those ethics which create people of character and honor.
As the Bible says, those who destroy the innocence of children are the most heinous of all...they are purely evil and worship Satan.

It is the “elephant in the room” for the Catholic Church. I have been on them to acknowledge the “homosexuality” of this egregious sin. It is a deliberate infiltration by homosexuals to destroy Christianity and make the Bible into “hate speech” and eliminate it from our “enlightened” culture.

Creates divisions between all groups-=to destroy the family so children are emotionally vulnerable and susceptible to being seduced into whatever.
McCarthy was correct but the communists destroyed and ridiculed him—marginalized him so that others who would dare expose the infiltration would keep their mouths shut. They had control of the media and universities and policy making positions in government.
