For those of you who still think ObamaCare is a good idea, heres how its affecting my family at the very moment Im writing this
My 90 year-old mother has taken ill. High fever (103), throwing up, weakness, spasmodic cough and significant respiratory issues. Her neighbor took her to the ER. The doctor says that "due to the changes in Medicare under ObamaCare" (the doctor's own words) he could not admit her into the hospital, even though he thought she should be admitted.
Kicked out of the hospital, even though shes also a heart patient. Kicked out of the hospital, even though she runs a risk of developing pneumonia.
Would anyone like to try convincing me at this point that the rumors of death panels within ObamaCare are false? Before the new rules took effect, she'd have been admitted without question. We're getting a nurse to stay with her so that (hopefully) she gets proper care.
Those of you who pray, please pray for my mom.
Plus this has nothing to do with Obamacare. Sounds like the ER physician is not doing a good job. You could always justify the admission of a 93 y/o with 103 fever without any problem.
NO, wages are not going up, there are fewer jobs, and what jobs there are are not paying as well as they use to, and pay raises will be much, much smaller than in the past.
Food and fuel prices will eat up what little extra money people have......which will cause more lay offs. I’m not quite old enough to remember the Great Depression, but we are rapidly coming to that point, if we have not reached it already.
If you have been skipping the food/fuel price hike threads, better NOT, the trend because of various reasons is going to see food and fuel skyrocket. Prices for things like cleaning, grooming have risen much faster than food prices.
sorry, my post was total sarcasm
I forgot to add the /s
The ER doc correctly interpreted the rules. Mom didn't "meet the Medicare criteria" for a hospital overnighter. 103 degree fever, violent coughing, nausea, AND a heart condition. No clue how sick one has to be to qualify.
My older bro & sister in-law are staying there 2nite. A Visiting Nurse will then stay 3 nights. She will be examined and treated as needed. She's stable and feels slightly better but very weak. Taking meds for symptoms and antibiotics.

It’s been 2x-checked and confirmed. Under current Medicare regs, she did not qualify for a hospital stay. We’ve hired a visiting nurse to stay with her at home.
I’m sorry but I am a Family Physician and there are NO NEW MEDICARE rules for admission. She could easily have been admitted to “Observation” status for up to 48 hours. An elederly person vomiting with a fever of 103 could easily have been placed in observation status with the diagnosis of weakness, dehydration nausea and vomiting and to futher work up the fever. The physician just did not want to admit her for whatever reason. It is still up to the physician and there have been no new Obama rules. This is nonsense. I have a hard time believing the physician said such a stupid thing. Of coarse you are hearing things 2nd hand and I am hearing them through the grapevine.....
I bet they wouldn’t do that to illegals or welfare queens about to pop out another kid and guess who pays for that?!

As I said earlier - I’m quoting what my mom and brother were told by the doctor. I intend to speak with the Medicare Admin at my local hospital tomorrow and see if he can give me any idea how this might have happened. That the doctor said what he said is not in question. His accuracy and motives however, *will* be subject to question.
The doctor and/or hospital always says her ailment "doesn't qualify, as it doesn't require skilled nursing." She has Alzheimer's, like she could care for herself under these situations??
Getting home health skilled nursing care is limited. But this is NOT new. There are only certain criteria that qualify. Now if you are poor and have Medicaid also at least in the State I am in they will provide an aide to come out and help with bathing, house cleaning etc. Like every other .gov program when .gov started home health care everyone and their pets qualified and it was abused so the qualifying criteria have been tightened. This always happens. I think on purpose.
