Have A Rat Problem? Meet Larry,Downing Street’s New Cat

It was discovered that at Number 10 Downing Street in London, England, UK, that it has a rat rodent problem. And instead of calling for the professionals to come and get rid of the rats, a cat who was just adopted to do the job. The cat, a male by the name of Larry, a big male cat adopted from an animal rescue organization. Not a bad job and an honor for a cat to go from being a rescue to being the rat hunter. The rats now have a new enemy in London’s Downing Street.

When my daughter lived in London last fall, her apartment building had mice — many of them! One day the building manager showed up with a cat under his arm and introduced him as “Marty, the Company Cat.” The kids were told to not feed him under any circumstances.

Apparently, Marty was a pro at his job - and there was no more mice inside of about 3 days.

After about 3 weeks, the owner came, picked him up, and took him to do his thing elsewhere.

So, maybe this is just how it’s done there?

Got that right! Thanks to my lil' girl kitty my piece of the world is now devoid of squirrels, pack rats, field mice, regular mice, chipmunks, moles, gophers, the occasional bird and a few skinks. Saw her the other day stalking an armadillo! She's a one cat ecological wrecking crew.

(at least she consumes what she kills.)

Reminds of when I was in Korea in 1970; we had a lot of rats around our small post. I asked why we don’t get some cats, I was told we can’t get cats; the rats eat them all.

I have had cats for over 20 years and for the most part they are independent. But as they become domesticated they will obey voice commands. I have two amazing females now.
