Does 'Sidwell Friends' Ring A Bell With Morning Joe Crowd Bashing Barbour?

[snip]

There was a hypocritical double-standard on display by the Morning Joe folks who turned Haley slowly over a spit today. Hat tip NB reader Ray R.

Eugene Robinson took the lead in belting Barbour for sending his children to private schools in Mississippi rather than to local public schools attended by black children. Joe Scarborough chimed in with his Mississippi-childhood recollections of such post-integration private academies springing up. Mike Barnicle did his bit, contributing the tale of whites in South Boston pulling their kids out of integrated public schools in favor of parochial and private ones.

One thing was missing from the conversational mix, however: any reference to the tradition of Dems in DC--from Bill and Hillary, to the Gores, to of course the Obamas--sending their kids [or in the case of the Bidens, grandkids] to tony private schools like Sidwell Friends rather than to the heavily African-American public DC schools.

City had to be closed, its attendance restructured, and then reopened. That sad fact may have been expunged from the historical revisions — or they may try to say it was for “remodeling.” Yes, checking quickly, I see that Wikipedia now says it was closed for “renovations.” Sure — and my cat has wings. I think that if anyone wants to be honest, you’ll find that the year the black student body of City decided to turn the City-Poly game into a race riot greatly expedited those “renovations.”

I know of Haley Barbour when I was living in Yazoo City, Mississippi and attending reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson MS. The private school was a christian based one whereby many families whom could afford it sent there children. To say the public schools were attended only by black children is wrong. My deceased wife attended the public schools in Yazoo City, and she was white. Her parents gave her choice public school or private school. Gues what she choose public school alongside her 3 sisters. There is no comaparison to the schools in Washington DC and the schools in Yazoo City. It is odd to compare the two. The private school in Yazoo City is totally different than Sidwell friends Private School- How many children at Sidwell friends go there on scholarship. Sidwell friends is geared for the elitist politicians that have their noses up in the air, whom think they are better than everyone else. I say that if a politician has children they must attend the public school system. This would wake the elists to make for improvement in the nations capitol public school system.

The public school sysytem in Yazoo City is pretty good. I have not been in the area for 14 years though. But my deceased wife attended the schools and she was decently educated, all her sisters went to college and graduated, and 3 sisters went on for masters degree.

Lets stopping the bashing of Barbour and Yazoo City. And stop the comparison of the public school in DC. As well as the private Christian School in Yazoo City and the elitist Sidwell Friends School. There are no way the comparisons will ever hold water.

Remember when Obama cancelled the school voucher program that helped poor kids in DC to go to private schools? I submit it was because he didn’t want his precious offspring mingling with the kids from the other side of the tracks.

Basically that is the Chicago liberal way. Its an open secret that Chicago Dems either get their kids into a magnet school or send them to a private school, usually a Catholic one. The regular HSs are a detention center usually non-diverse so as to avoid race riots (the deseg order long since abandoned once they figured out that lower class whites were never, ever going to send their kids back to CPS system.)

Joe is bad enough. I can’t stand Mika with that superior look and that creep that used to be with Tucker Carlson.

Oh. No. It couldn’t be that. It could only be racism.

Geez... get with the program.

I’m a racist,
he’s a racist,
if you don’t like Obama
you’re a racist too.

Being a Southern black male who doesn't toe the party line when it comes to these issues is no picnic, either.

How many people even remember who James Meredith -- the young black man who fought the legal battle to desegregate the University of Mississippi -- was? You never seem to hear him mentioned in any recollections about the Civil Rights era . . . probably because later in his life he committed the unpardonable crime of going to work for Senator Jesse Helms.

Aren’t Republicans in favor of school vouchers, and Dems are the ones that want to keep the public schools, so who is the hypocrite? It is like calling out Repubs for not paying taxes, you can call them what you like, but you can’t call them hypocrites. Only pro tax Dems who don’t pay are hypocrites.
