New Hampshire may be turning blue but there's plenty of reasons to move there. This is why I'm considering making the move. The state I live in right now is way too liberal and keeps getting more socialist by the second.

I’m sure Keene is a nice place, but that website is a hoot.. the way the main image looks, it appears to be a haven for the unemployed or hippies. A bunch of kids sitting around on street corners, wearing Guy Fawkes masks (I guess Anonymous has made an appearance), blocking a police car, and apparently not holding a job.

Yeah, but stay away from Brattleboro, VT - just down the road...

NH is rapidly becoming Massachusetts-North, too many MA residents moving there to escape high taxes and then vote for higher taxes.

I’d love to move to New Hampshire—but it has pitiful little Atlantic seacoast, and what it has of it is overdeveloped, and mostly with, no offense, ugly houses.

Some great restaurants are good reasons to move to Keene. College towns usually have good ethnic eats. There are fun alternative movies at Keene State College and at the Colonial Theater every weekend. Both great venues to see a movie if you appreciate the big screen. All and all, a pretty nice ambiance with pleasant neighhors and public servants.

The property tax rate in Keene will curl your hair though. Metaphors to describe the property tax pretty quickly move into the NSFW category.

On the plus side, a new DeMoulas/Market Basket supermarket in nearby Swanzey means you'll be saving on the groceries.

Oh, you can hunt on Sunday in New Hampshire. And you can marry whatever you please.

And no bottle deposit - Yes!

If you don’t mind being landlocked, you might want to investigate North or South Dakota.

Extremely low unemployment rate, and the cost of living compared to the average salary I think is more favorable than New Hampshire.

I don’t know anything about North/South Dakota’s politics, though.

Also South Dakota has the added bonus of no state income tax.

LOL. Smart.

If I were in New Hampshire, I'd be saying the same thing.

I like that people go around and put coins in parking meters. Nice thing to do.

The problem w/ the Dakotas is there too spread apart and too big. Smaller is better. NH is easy to get around it from the looks of it.

I just got an offer to work for JDeere in suburban Dem Moines IA. Other than to continue on my salary continuation plan, I struggle to find reasons to relocate there.

Sounds like you live near me.
:)

We were THRILLED when Market Basket went in. Fresh hot bread at prices we can afford. And hot donuts in the morning, big doughy, soft and delicious.

Sad to see that old farm with the melting 3-story barn go, but it’s good that Hannaford and Shaws have some competition. Feel a little bad for Gomarlo’s down the road, but nobody can beat his meat deals.

I think The Free Keene movement is at least partly made up of Free Staters that moved to NH. Libertatians, mostly. It’s good that they give the busybodies a much needed thumb in the eye.

Property taxes are hideous even in the rural areas, where we are.

People out here watch out for eachother without being busybodies. We’re always interested if there’s a car on our road we ain’t seen before. Wanna make sure there’s no mischief afoot.

Pretty much everybody is armed in the rural towns.

Ridley Report (has a v-log on youtube) and I *believe* is a freeper occasionally as well has an interesting perspective on NH as well (with a libertarian/conservative-but more libertarian) p.o.v.

The Monadnock region is a little piece of heaven.

Except for the property taxes...

Yeah, the DeMoulas know how to run a supermarket, huh?

My family, mothers side, has been in NH prior to the US of A exsisting, holding property continually in Boscwen, and East Concord since 1745 and 1769. Deeds, wills, tax records, etc..show continutiy to me today. I have great respect for my family working hard those many years to enable future generations, that being me.

I am leaving NH with my family and the US for that matter. Waiting on NZ immigration paperwork. NH is not what it used to be and the Free Staters don’t get it. Yes, compared to Cali or New York *hitty it is heaven, yet NH has a terminal cancer call Massification. NH State Gov’t has grown 3x since 1998 and the population is the same. RINO’s and democraps, they are the same here.

My children can determine there home country, in my mind, mine has left me and my conservative values, so I am finding a new one.

It's not the Massachusetts people who are at fault for NH's "blue state" trend - which is about to be reversed in a big way in November, by the way. The two most conservative counties in NH are adjacent to Mass. and contain the largest number of immigrants from that state (like me and my family, for example).

Many of our liberals have come here from New York, New Jersey, California, Vermont and Maine. Some have certainly come from MA, but for the most part they are refugees who got tired of a horrible tax burden and a one-party culture.
