U.S. Military Confiscated, Burned Bibles In Afghanistan
Amerisrael ^

Posted on 09/07/2010 1:22:42 PM PDT by Amerisrael

This comes to mind in light of General Petraeus's warning "against" the planned Koran burning protest by an independent fringe church in Florida. The wrong way to protest.

In Afghanistan, where General Petraeus is the new commander, Bibles were confiscated by U.S. military authorities from a soldier and burned last year.

That was an absoluely repugnant action. One that every U.S. citizen in this country should have protested and denounced.

And why did our U.S. military authorities in Afghanistan do that?

-because Al-jazerra reported it's "concern" that the Bibles could be given to Muslims and used to share with them the Good News of forgiveness of sins through Yeshua [ Jesus], the Messiah.

The U.S. military authorities caved in and made "appeasement".

We are told that our troops are in Afghanistan to prevent it from becoming a safe haven for terrorists.

What about the safe haven for terrorists in Iran that is on the very brink of obtaining nuclear weapons and our military under Obama will do nothing to stop them.?

Or the safe haven for terrorists in Lebanon that Obama wants to go ahead and give $100 million in military aid and and equipment to the Hezbollah/Lebanese army?

Or the safe haven for terrorists in Gaza that our government has already given $millions in aid to?

Our government under Obama has done nothing but embolden the jihadist enemies of the free-West since he became president.

Our U.S. military should not be supporting an Afghan government that will not accord true freedom of religion and speech for all it's citizens.

We remember the outrageous matter of an Afghan man who embraced Christianity and then faced the death penalty in the Afghan court system.

In this country we have freedom of religion. Freedom of speech, and expression guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.

Freedoms that Islamists are using against us in oder to advance the Islamization of America,--

It is one thing for a U.S. soldier in a Muslim country to have a personal-use Bible. It is quite another thing to have “supplies” of Bibles. I do not think we are seeing the whole story here.

Outrage over US Miliitary Bible Burnings in Afghanistan

"It really should shake the core of every Christian to realize that Bibles are being burned," said Carl Moeller President of Open Doors USA in an interview with Mission Network News monitored Friday, May 22, by Worthy News.

The Bibles, printed in the two most common Afghan languages, were burned amid concern they would be used to try to convert Afghans, the Cable News Network (CNN) quoted a a Defense Department spokesman as saying.

The unsolicited Bibles sent by a church in the United States were confiscated about a year ago at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan because military rules forbid troops of "any religion" from proselytizing while deployed there, Lt. Col. Mark Wright said.

We need a prime directive when it comes to dealing with islamic countries and stay the hell out. Before giving those people rights they need to be right on the inside to begin with, and they are centuries away from that.

Yes, but that’s DIFFERENT after all!! Christians don’t behead or incinerate those who insult them. So, what the hell, right Hussein!

Muslims only understand strength. Every kind gesture we make, they interpret as us appeasing them out of fear.

ADDENDUM:
Very Interesting:
Fallon, McCain, USS Liberty, etc.

He Was A Carrier Pilot On The Saratoga

Fallon was a young US Naval Officer serving aboard the US Aircraft Carrier Saratoga in June, 1967, when Israel launched a surprise war against its Arab neighbors. He saw the valiant F-4 Phantom pilots rocket off the Saratoga to save the crew of the USS Liberty, only to return 15 minutes later. Heroic pilots getting out of their jets, smashed their helmets on the deck, and called Admiral McCain a treacherous bastard. 2

Some of the USS Liberty’s wounded were airlifted to the Saratoga.

we’re fighting wars while appeasing them and trying to make them happy.

We’d still be fighting the NAZIS if we did this back then.

Is it any wonder why this is the longest war in our history.

It was entirely a wrong act for our government to push for the destruction of these bibles.

Our constitution supports the concept of basic inalienable rights for ALL men.

A freedom of religion is one of these. When theocratic Islamic governments seek to supress that right, it is a human rights violation and needs to be called such.

When the prisoners came to Gitmo, it was ok to offer them korans, but they should also have been informed that for possibly the first time in their lives, they were FREE to choose any religious texts.

The Cold War with the Soviet Union lasted longer than this one so far.

And there were those (like Jimmy Carter) who insisted that we could not defeat the Soviets and would have to learn to co-exist with their tyrannical regime.

And there were supporters like Ted Kennedy who conspired with the Soviets against the Reagan administration’s policies.
