SHOULD America try and become more like "Socialist" Sweden?
COULD Americans aquire the English skills, become as beautiful and get as successful at establishing healthy multinationals as Swedes?

Sweden is much less Socialist than Obama, so I would welcome a move in this direction. :)

Out of ignorance and sheer wishful thinking, many leftist/Liberal Americans set hope to the idea that USA somehow could become Scandinavia.
Being a son of Scandinavia myself, I’m not especially flattered.
In another age, an elderly Viking probably would have responded to such a notion in this way:
“Something is wrong when an ally asks you for advice on how to run his own farm”.
Yes, The Bible is the “book of books”, but to some, the pre-Christian Viking “Hávamál” might work as an introduction to wisdom and spiritual development before taking the Bible on.
The message of this ancient Viking text is, to a very large degree, that each of us has got to learn how to rely in our own sense of judgement.
I recommend it to all.
Today, Vikings still often are portraid as mindless brutes, despite the fact that the traces their culture left behind strongly point in the opposite direction.

Back to the issue of running your own farm.
After adopting Christianity, the Nordic countries became even more dominating in European affairs.
Especially my country, Sweden.
The explanation to how tiny Sweden once managed to lay siege to Germany and defeat Catholicism, as well as pushing back Czarist Russia from the Seven Seas probably do not lay in our genetics, but sooner in our culture (and to some extent our geography).
Could another country copy a formerly successful culture?
Some questions related to this matter;
1. Is America a 17th century Baltic power that, for different reasons, has turned into a nation where people today work for AstraZeneca Biologics Division, SAAB Aerospace, Ericsson Radar Systems or ABB Robotics, etc? ( - Some Swedes in fact work for IKEA Linköping and such places admittedly)
2. What do people, at large, actually know about any other country but their own?
3. Has America “failed”?
I’m European/Scandinavian, but that doesn’t mean I’m opposed to American values.
I even view that as impossible as Sweden of today, in many ways, is a society built on American values and a very close cooperation between Swedish and Amerian organizations of different sorts.
It is extremely important that we rely on each other’s good will, but it is perhaps even more important that we rely on ourselves.
Take the Viking’s word for it.
Don’t you ever get weary of promoting your country? I know that some of us get weary of seeing these posts.
Look, there is no correlation at all between America and Sweden. Yours is a country happy with socialism, whereas we are working hard to fight it off.
Also, if you have ever been here, you will see that unlike your country with its homogeneous people (aside from the Arabs you have been so foolish as to let in your country), America is a country of diverse populations of various ethnic groups.
Give it up.
