My gas-powered 100mhz boat anchor PC finally bit the dust, so you won't see me here for awhile and to add insult to injury, I won't be able to work at my new-found job as a loan originator and so can't buy another CPU. I'm on my stepson's laptop right now, as he's home for a few days. I'd appreciate your thoughts and prayers as I'm trying to do somnetghing in case my wife has another stroke and just to help out. Can't do physical labor or conventional work anymore and while my VA disablity comes in handy, it only pays 2/3 of the rent. ThANKS!!
I add my prayers for another long timers intentions .... I did buy a refurbished PC, for lack of being able to stretch Social Security and a miniscule pension to warrant a new one and have had not one bit of trouble with it except WINDOWS VISTA!

Our 2nd hand shop in the church’s building repairs used computers and offers them to needy folks free or very cheap.

As to an inexpensive computer, try checking with Tiger Direct. I buy everything from them. I'll be getting my wife a Laptop from them very soon.
They have Refurbs, 'Off Lease', Open Box Specials, and natch, brand new Computers. Plus they sell 'Barebone Kits' where you can build your own. Add a few things, like an OS and a Video Card and off you go while saving money. (the cheaper the Kit the more you have to add on your own) Right now they have a "4th of July Sale" going.
TigerDirect.comIn all the years I've dealt with them I only had one bad piece equipment, a Cannon Scanner, and I got a new, and BETTER model, asap for no cost. Plus I live close to one of their warehouses so if I order before noon Central, I get it two days later -- at the most. Some times its the next day. And that's UPS Ground, so their shipping Dept is on the ball.
Anyway, my prayers are with you and your family -- and to getting a good, inexpensive computer.
