We are in a constitutional crisis on many levels but today the First Amendment right to free speech has been trampled by Democrats who are hanging on with their fingernails.
The Democrat-controlled House has pulled another fast one in a blatant, desperate attempt to shut down the voices of opposition prior to this Novembers elections.
The House has just voted to criminalize speech by grassroots groups. There are criminal provisions in this bill which will can put people in jail for opposing points of view. Let me repeat, there are criminal provisions in this bill which include JAIL for expressing political views and not following the byzantine reporting rules which noone will be able to understand.

I guess I don’t understand why it’s so much of a problem if it’s just disclosing where the campaign funding comes from.
Well, for one thing Unions are exempted.
“expressed grave concern that individuals with names and addresses publicly available would be subject to reprisals for making a political statement. He pointed to the situation in California, where supporters of Proposition 8 have been victims of reprisals by homosexualist activists.
We are chilling speech already, and now we are getting into direct intimidation by requiring the residence of people living there, he said.”
Remember Proposition 8 in California? The radical homosexuals attacking everyone that supported it!
Something MUST give. This Fabian march towards absolute Marxist tyranny must be stopped. Better a hero than a slave!
Excuse me but isn’t this the way that Hitler got started?? Just askin’
“Remember Proposition 8 in California? The radical homosexuals attacking everyone that supported it!”
I don’t think the Constitution guarantees you free anonymous speech. If you have something to say and are too much of a wimp to say it publicly, then keep your trap shut... If I get attack by fags, that will end up being their problem.
“Well, for one thing Unions are exempted.”
Well they shouldn’t be, nor should the NRA... I really don’t see what the issue is.
Friend, the question is why does even such a bill exist? Why does our Congress have any thing whatsoever to do with political advertising? Why does the Congress actively pursue a control such as this when it has nothing to do whatsoever with the job for which they are elected? It's not for them to manipulate our political information. They do work for us, don't they? Isn't the nation about free enterprise, and imagination, and competition, that has nothing whatsoever to do with the original purpose of Congressmen?
The reason is to suppress dissent and reason from the common constituency. They, the politicians in power, want only to deal with the existing defined powers, who can be corralled and extorted if need be. And in this era of the internet, yea, Free Republic, there is the potential for immense outreach, revelation, and communication, among those who work and pay taxes, not only to expose the corruption, but also to introduce new and revolutionary ideas.
"They" can't handle that.
It's called an Oligarchy.
The Sinate will block this Stalinism.
Pray for America
UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
I had the same thought. I said to myself "there's something inefficient about this bill. People could lie about their names or give the wrong address, or move, then how would you locate and harrass them? They need to identify those protestors better, like making them wear a symbol on their clothing...
>a>
But you know, some people might tear them off or cover them up, so maybe a tattoo on the forearm...
“Friend, the question is why does even such a bill exist? Why does our Congress have any thing whatsoever to do with political advertising? Why does the Congress actively pursue a control such as this when it has nothing to do whatsoever with the job for which they are elected?”
Very little that congress does has anything to do with why they are elected... This bill is mild compared with most of the sh!t they propose.
We need to pick our battles better I believe.
***Other affected entities under the bill will likely include vocal liberal and conservative groups that communicate through the internet. While traditional media organizations like newspapers and television stations are exempt from the bill, bloggers, the vanguard of the new media, are not.***
“...if its just disclosing where the campaign funding comes from.”
From the article:
“The bill requires that every time an organization runs a campaign ad, its CEO must appear in the ad and twice state his name and the organizations name. The top five funders of the organization behind the ad even if they had nothing to do with the ads funding must also have their names listed in the ad.
In addition, the most significant donor to the organization must list his name, rank, and organization three times in the ad.
Critics of the bill say that the disclaimers effectively devour valuable airtime bought by these groups that would otherwise be used to inform voters about a candidates record.”
Were getting a little silly here. Were talking about making disclaimers that are going to take the entire time of a commercial, stated Rep. Lungren during debate.”
In the upcoming Nov election most conservative organizations will not much money.
Wouldn’t this effect the dems as well as the republicans?
It is after all, the dems that seem to have all of the unusual campaign contributions. As for the unions - whats to say the republicans cant come up with some “unions” too to counteract this.
It’s not like the dems are supper smart or anything. We should be able to beat them at their own game.
We are being trashed.
Our culture is being trashed.
And our foundations as a nation are being mocked and stripped and shredded and disposed of promptly.
