Deficits? Fascism by the left? Abortion? Foreign affairs? Repealing ObamaCare? How can the Tea Party Movement contribute? Who would be the candidates to take us forward?
I like THIS ONE:

I say again if we loll away the summer for more hopey changey stuff from the same establishment republicans who are failing us daily, for five more months betting on November, we are in another world. Obama is unafraid of November and has visably distanced himself from his party’s re-election woes. There’s a reason for that. Cap and trade. We are becoming Venzuela while our standing military are a zillion miles away with no ride home.
Close the border first! Make that the only item on the platform and the GOP will win - of course, they have to mean it which for 30 plus years they have not.
You forgot close the border. That was the number 1 answer. Sorry, you don’t pass the test.
Reagan conservative/republican pretty much sums it up.
We need to take an all of the above approach like Reagan did, otherwise, we risk fracture of the GOP as one or more factions will rightfully feel dis-enfranchised.
I’d like to see strong statements on each pillar of our three-legged stool
1. Fiscal restraint/small government
2. Foreign policy/strong defense
3. Social conservativism/pro life, standing against homo marriage, fighting illegal immigration
You are correct on all counts, but, Reagan didn’t have to face the dire situation that we face now that our country can go under.
Two things:
1) Guns for everyone [citizen]! (Ex-Felons too; if they served their sentence then they should have FULL rights & privileges restored.)
— a) This will help ensure that the Citizens can defend themselves, and their families, and their properties from all enemies Foreign and Domestic.
— b) This will also encourage the formation of militias, which are going to be needed to secure the border.
— c) This is something that a Statist would not endorse, but a Representative would.
2) Massive Government Reduction — If it isn’t DIRECTLY authorized by the Constitution, it’s not a federal agency [anymore].
— a) This is something that a Statist would not endorse, but a Representative would.
— b) Goodbye: FDA, DEA, BATFE, DOE, DOE (the other one), FCC, DOT, DHS, Fish & Wildlife, NASA, MMS, SSA, BP, Airforce (they’re a ROUGE Army Air Corp!!) ;), Dept of Agriculture, etc.
Waterboard, then execute Soros; and roll up his network.
Cheers!
“Yes, because some Americans are more equal than others. /s “
I don’t think it’s an equality issue, but a reward issue.
However, I don’t think I’d support it. I’d rather income taxes be abolished and we all go to a national sales tax instead.
To climb out of the ditch we find ourselves in I am convinced you are correct in eliminating several extra-constitutional bureaucracies. I would prefer to eliminate EPA completely, however. The several states are capable of determining their ecological interests, IMO.
No anchor babies.
Persons currently in the US illegally cannot become citizens, period.
If we think that it is logistically impossible to deport the interlopers ( I don’t) , then give them worker visas with no chance of citizenship ahead of anyone who did things right; they should leave and come back when their number is called.
No amnesty, no voting usurpers.
Strengthen the things that remain, or there will be no more Republic.
Disagreed.
I’m a veteran and that proposal would NOT work.
Taxes should be made simple and, in a word, singular [for whatever level of government we’re talking about].
We should get rid of crap like: inheritance tax, [pet] licensing tax, energy tax, phone excise tax...
Instead of all those taxes making EVERYONE’S (Govt included) lives harder, we could go with something like a Federal Income Tax of [say] 5% with NO exceptions or deductions (i.e. EVERYONE would pay that same rate).
Nothing.
But I do believe in equality under the law.
And, as I wrote at post 20, I can understand combat pay and pensions being exempted from Federal taxation, but I will NOT support a blanket and indefinite exemption from paying taxes.
There are far too many Government employees (and yes, lots and lots of retired "veterans") here in the DC area double and tripple dipping as they milk the system.
It should start with the FR definition of conservative:
As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.
