Yes, because some Americans are more equal than others.

Tell you what Rabs, if someone serves their country and is willing to put their life on the line doing, they are more equal than most other Americans.

Nothing.

But I do believe in equality under the law.

And, as I wrote at post 20, I can understand combat pay and pensions being exempted from Federal taxation, but I will NOT support a blanket and indefinite exemption from paying taxes.

There are far too many Government employees (and yes, lots and lots of retired "veterans") here in the DC area double and tripple dipping as they milk the system.

The fact that someone volunteers to serve is great. But, blanket ‘special’ treatment is wrong.

It is similar to creating different degrees of punishment, because someone is a policeman, fireman, child, etc. during a crime against them.

They all are people, and setting up a animal farm mentality is anathema to the Republic.
