Undermining Our Faith

"What is it then that drives some intellectuals in free countries to hate their native land and wish for its annihilation?" - Eric Hoffer

I left the campus library at the University of Colorado, Boulder some time after noon. Outside in the library courtyard, I heard something strange and unsettling drifting down from the student union complex just up the hill. It was the raucous roaring of a crowd -- similar to the Saturday football games -- but with an eerie flavor of something dark and unhinged.

I turned toward the noise and began walking.

I was running late on this particular day. A much-heralded campus exhibit exposing American "racism" overseas during World War II had caught my attention near the library entrance. The exhibit included personal letters from Marines and other combat infantrymen who had used words like "Jap" in their correspondences home. Their letters were openly displayed on a maze-like configuration of walls that trapped the curious onlooker in a sea of "racism."

The self-absorbed arrogance of those who deem themselves superior because they rail against the values which enabled people of ALL races, religions, and sexes to build prosper, and endow is absolutely stunning.

The standard tactic, faced with logical challenge to ideological idiocy, is to put down and change the subject, put down and bolster a position with decibels instead of discernment, or put down and question the loyalty, veracity, or applicability of the challenge.

But always -- the put down.

Sometimes it sounds like Matt Groening writes script for the liberals.

Very interesting read. Thanks for posting it.

We are indeed but David facing Goliath.

Come April 15th many of us will feel like that boy reading the Bible out-loud.

May we “be still” with Grace, in the violent face of such vitriol.

If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend Thomas Sowell’s newest book: “Intellectuals and Society”.

It deals with this subject in depth, and in his usual excellent way, Dr. Sowell gets the point across well.

When the Second American Revolution comes, the 'Hate America First and Always Crowd' should be deported. They are as much a threat to our security as the terrorists ever were.

I have refused to give money to any college including the one where I graduated from because of the Anti-American hatred which they promote.

Our greatest enemies live off of the blood and sweat of patriots.

Yes, indeed. It’s a pity someone didn’t make a video and post it to youtube.

I took one of Eric Hoffer’s book, The Temper of Our Times to Vietnam with me in 1967. In a letter to my late father I mentioned how much I enjoyed it. My dad tracked Mr. Hoffer down and contacted him by telephone to learn what other books he’d written and where he could buy them to send to me. Mr. Hoffer was very gracious when contacted by Dad out of the blue and answered all his questions. It was simply one working man to another and my dad never forgot that exchange.

If any of these pantywaist, liberal-indoctrinated pukes had been on Bataan or Corregidor, and seen one of their fallen (but still-alive!) comrades on an open-fire spit, with a "Jap" carving and eating the cooked flesh off his thigh as the poor bastard screamed in terror and watched (spine snapped with the butt of a Jap rifle, so he couldn't feel, but only smell the heart-stopping horror of his own flesh cooking), they might have as little compassion for the enemy as did many of our doughboys, who had to slaughter the nasty little pricks just to stay alive themselves.

In battle, one rather common way to perform a mission which necessitates the repeated butchering of enemy combatants and still remain somewhat sane, is a form of dissociative denial whereby you "see" the enemy as less than human, a task made somewhat more easy by the abject barbarism (and disregard for the more polite "Geneva Convention" articles) displayed by the Japanese toward many of their WWII American captives.

For the putrid Liberal Academia to now intentionally mis-state that psychologically inevitable necessity as some form of "racism" (at the behest of an equally vile and anti-American White House cabal) grossly transcends irresponsibility, and rises to the level of Treason against America, especially given that they comport themselves thusly in the middle of yet another armed conflict during which our soldiers again find themselves pitted against an enemy which laughs themselves to tears as we bring to trial our men for allegedly "hitting a man in the stomach" while their own scum film themselves hacking the heads off of screaming Allied soldiers and war reporters with dull cutlery.

These revisionist propagandist filth have no place in a just, moral society. They have forsworn the privilege of living under the blessed protection of those who shed their limbs and blood and their very lives for the safety and freedom of those among us who understand and appreciate... and honor... their supreme sacrifice. Piss on them and drop them into North Korea for all of me. Parachutes optional.

IMHO

One who hates what most people love probably savors his uniqueness. He believes that secession from his country, class, race and species bespeaks righteousness and partakes of the heroic. But above all he has an almost insane vanity. ... He lusts instead for an apocalyptic denouement that will topple the power structure and give him his chance.

Gee, if that does not epitomize the Narcissistic, Fascist, Community-Agitator-in-Chief, I don't know what does

He is after all, the Messiah who after deliberately tearing down this Great Republic, delusionally believes, he will be the One to remake it into what he believes it should be.

The filmed interviews I’ve seen of Hoffer show him to be a regular working guy with a head on his shoulders — something we could use a whole lot more nowadays.

Eric Hoffer's occupation, as I recall, was a longshoreman. The simple truth is that people who live and work in the real world have a tendency to be more grounded and capable their philosophies.

Given his early career, Dr. Thomas Sowell had a similar grounding in the real world, before becoming an intellectual.
