The Coming of an American Reichstag?
Canada Free Press ^ | March 25, 2010 | Douglas J. Hagmann

...According to this source, who agreed to speak to this writer under the strict condition of anonymity, “a ‘watch list’ has already been created that specifically names and turns their focus on various pro-life and tea-party organizations and individuals who are considered a threat to domestic security, continuity of government operations, and to the lives of lawmakers and their families.”

While published reports confirm that Capitol Police have been contacted and are addressing security concerns of lawmakers and the incidents of vandalism, the involvement of federal agencies has not been publicly disclosed, nor will it likely be on any official level. The reason, according to this source, is that high-level discussions between top lawmakers and agency heads are “exploring the application of the Patriot Act against any right-wing individual or group that poses a danger to government operations.” He added that “threat assessments and security measures for public assemblies at the Capitol, specifically focusing on conservative groups are being re-evaluated at the request of the White House and Democratic lawmakers.”....

The federal government is more inefficient at everything it does than the private sector. Do you honestly think they have the ability to pull off all this crap?

No one said they had to be efficient, just that they are doing it.

I love Robert Heinlein’s writing and have every one of his books, including the one with the short story you cite. Wonder what he would say about all this if he were still alive? He probably would not be too surprised.

The Left will manufacture or blow up incidents to justify restrictions on free speech (or worse?) among conservatives and the Tea Party movement

And that is exactly what they've been doing since "The takeover" bill passed on Sunday.

Do a Reichstag type incident, declare martial law, disarm Americans in the interest of public safety .... yep ..

One, easy to do, doesn't take a big team. Two, would not appear so drastic after one. Three, harder than hell, by design of the founding fathers, not that I would expect the second amendment to get in their way. No, it would all those who having been keeping and bearing arms under it's protection for literally generations. They would cause problems.

I would hope to one of them, because I have this other little thing about "support and defend"... "against all enemies, foreign and domestic" that I promised to do, many many moons ago.

to declare Marshal Law

It's Martial Law, same word as in "Courts Martial".

But, IMHO, they would not actually declare it that blatantly. They'd just announce a series of "reasonable and prudent" measures, including suspension of Habeas Corpus, which is after all allowed under the Constitution "when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it."

They'll just show up when there's nobody in the house, bust in, and search. If they find anything, you'll be picked up at work.

Yea that might work a few hundred times, (more like 10s of times) but several million times? Don't think so.

The parents of our neighbor lady for our first 12 years in Texas, were Holocaust survivors. Had the numbers tattooed on their arms and everything. The thing that probably saved them was that they were German Jews, not Poles, French, Hungarian or other "lessor types". The camps in Germany were bad, but nothing compared to those in Poland.

BTW, the neighbor lady made one heck of scary witch at Halloween. Scared the kids half .. well you know. Long black hair, big nose made bigger by an attachment, and green skin paint. If I didn't kw it was her, I'd have been scared too. Her husband was of Russian Jewish stock who had come to the US through Galveston rather than New York. Not your typical eastern US Russian Jews. He was armed to, with multiple weapons, and big TimberShepard, nice dog, but the bad guys wouldn't know that, and she was defensive of her people, she just didn't have an offensive bone in her body.

The comforting truth, however, is that socialism is an unsustainable economic/social/political system that always fails, and it will fail in the US.

In Russia it took 75 years to fail, and it took Ronald Reagan to make it happen.

If it ever happens in the U.S., darkness will descend for several lifetimes.

So it is up to us to make sure it doesn’t happen in this lifetime.

One possibility for an American Reichstag, btw, is an assassination - attempted or successful. It seems to be where the build up in propaganda is headed. Anyone else think that makes any sense?

(Found this fiction on the internet.)

INT. UNDERGROUND DC PARKING GARAGE. BOTTOM LEVEL. NIGHT.

Libra’s footsteps echo off the walls. The buzz of a flickering neon light is heard. In the corner of the garage a whole sector of lights has gone dark. Shadows thicken. A lighter flickers in the darkness as a cigar is lit.

LIBRA: Carthago. Countersign?

CENTURION: Delenda est. Sort of overly dramatic don’t you think?

LIBRA: Not paid to think. What is the assignment?

CENTURION: The Wing thinks it’s time to lay a little blue smoke between the mirrors. Take the heat off our team and torch the other side. That’s your job.

LIBRA: Fine. How wet does the Wing want it to get?

CENTURION: We project that if three team members are sent down it should put a stop to any attrition in November.

LIBRA: Wouldn’t taking out just one serve the same purpose?

CENTURION: No. It has to look like a pattern.

LIBRA: Fine. Any particular team members you need erased?

CENTURION: Nobody from Chicago or San Francisco. And from safe seats only. We need to preserve the count. Renegade’s very keen on that.

LIBRA: Level of obfuscation?

CENTURION: None. Public and messy. “Accidents” would be counter productive. But no families. Renaissance would be upset.

LIBRA: Timing?

CENTURION: Within the next 10 days. It would be best if all three were within the same day.

LIBRA: You want target clearance and notification?

CENTURION: No. This will be the last contact for this contract.

LIBRA: Half to the Bahamas account by noon tomorrow and the half on completion to our friend in Costa Rica.

CENTURION: Done.

LIBRA: Anything else?

CENTURION: No. If we need you again we can always find you.

LIBRA: That’s what you people always think. Oh, by the way, was that stuff about you being naked in the showers the real deal?

CENTURION: Just get it done.

FADE TO BLACK

Just like we could never have a communist for a President, right?

Or a 'holiday tree' with freaking Mao ornaments in the White House, for crying out loud. If i had said something like that was possible a few years ago, everyone would have laughed. Not laughing any more, are you?

Make sure to store your “papered” guns in a different location than your “unpapered” guns.

To what end? The sort of circumstances that would make that necessay are the same circumstances that will make it necessary to begin armed and targeted resistance.

They’re dragging us, our children, and grandchildren off into slavery, and are offended that we’re mad about it.

The sick thing about these monsters is that they expect us to applaud their tyranny.
