Since the beginning of 2010 there have been umpteen articles or polls regarding questioning the 'qualifications' of Sarah Palin for President of the United States. Here is a statement by Matthew Dowd, ex-Bush aide in the fall of 2009 that puts the topic in perspective:
"No sitting President of the United States in the 60 year history of the Gallup poll has failed to be re-elected going into the fall campaign if his job approval number was above 51% and no president with below 47% has been re-elected."
"The 2012 election will be PRIMARILY about our current president and whether voters are satisfied with the country's direction. Who the Republican candidate is, and his or her qualifications and abilities, will matter ONLY if Obama's approval rating is between 47 and 51% going into the fall of 2012."
COMMENT:
I know at FR it is extremely important to get the right GOP nominee in place to face off against Obama in 2012-I agree fully, but I would also suggest that we never take our eye off the ball regarding Obama's job approval numbers and perhaps put a much higher priority in causing them to stay in the zone of uncertainty between 47 and 51 if not lower than to nitpick away to distraction at the inadequacies or perceived weaknesses or flaws of the GOP candidates including Sarah Palin.
And I am not only talking here to Palinistas which I am one but to everyone on our side including Romneybots and Huckabee supporters who are also disgusted with Obama and his radical socialist agenda and firmly convinced he must be toppled from his throne in 2012.
For the record I am not saying that the posters at FR should abandon seeking the truth regarding the potential GOP candidates for the 2012 nomination, far from it, but I also believe we should never lose sight of the overall objective. Neither Palin, Romney nor Huckabee or any GOP dark horse is the enemy. Obama, the Far Left and the Democrats and their allies in the MSM are.
It certainly helps that she was a mayor and a governor.
However, quitting her job as governor before the end of her first term was a fatal mistake if she had any presidential ambitions. She should have remained governor and gotten reelected, if she wanted to be president.
She’s no longer a serious presidential contender.
I’m not sure she was ever fit to be president regardless. Sure she’s more fit than Hussein was when he was running, but if that’s the baseline of qualifications we are to hold as a standard from now on, we’re finished as a nation.
I know I’ll catch hell from many on here for saying so. Her supporters tend to be as fanatical as Hussein’s most die hard followers.
(dawns flame proof suit, and runs for the bunker)
I'll give you one. Sarah Palin gave up her governorship for the sake of her state. The fact that you and others cannot understand that isn't her fault.
Paid Shill? LOL.. I wish.. Where do I sign up? Would love to get paid for telling the truth.
Palin rejected third party solutions (when she could have easily taken that coarse and become an unelectable, star).
Issue after issue she has been challenging Obama in her speeches, interviews and tweets, more so than anyone else.
You would have to tell the truth first.
100% in agreement with your post.
These Palin-bots will conveinently ignore all of the questions surrounding her integrity and political positions, but will explode with a fit of rage about another candidates “one-off” position.
The group think at Free Republic has become frightening. Palin is nothing even remotely close to “Presidential Timber”.
LOL I'm no fan of Huckabee, but that is a dumb remark. Huck does support the Fair Tax, which is about as far as you get away from being like Obama as anyone can get.
Sarah Palin remains a viable alternative for conservatives in 2012, if he decides to run. Palin would be a much better candidate then Mitch Daniels, or the phony and fraud, Mitt Romney.
LMAO... She quit under the pressure of a small brushfire back home.. and you think she can handle the rigors of the White House?
LOL..
Amen! Two people are most responsible for Obama’s fall from his lofty artificial perch, Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin.
For the love of god. I hope “challenging Obama in speeches, interviews, and tweets” isn’t the new criteria to become PRESIDENT OF THE FREAKING FREE WORLD!
Rejecting Third Party Solutions? Wow.. Some crisis she navigated out of.
OH... MY... GOD...
It's not my mind you have to change, if she's the nominee I am voting for her, it's the independents we have to also bring over in order to win, which I'm afraid she already lost forever.
Plus it's clear being that her supporters can only resort to 3rd grade name calling against other Conservatives (Living in my Parents Basement LOL!!) who have reservations about her that there are no intellectually arguments for her nomination.
No, the opposite is true.
One who wishes to run for president and one who also wishes to to keep their day job as governor, is one who isn't doing either properly.
Like I said.......... it isn’t Sarah’s fault you and others are stuck on stupid.
That’s your response to her quitting her elected post as Governor?
People most responsible for Obamas attainment of POTUS.
Romney. Parker. Frum. Powell. Rice. Erickson. .
Add Chris Buckley, David Brooks and George Will to that list.
