Attention will then turn to the Southwestern U.S. where another storm system will move ashore associated with the subtropical jetstream. This system will spread more rains and mountain snows to the western U.S. from Canada into the desert Southwest on Tuesday and Wednesday. This upper level energy will begin to aid in the development of a surface storm system northeastern Old Mexico by Thursday morning. In its advance, a southerly flow will set up and produce a solid fetch of Gulf moisture that will encompass much of the Gulf coast from Texas to Florida by Thursday morning.

Speaking from Virginia, please not another one so close to the last. I love the snow, but I’ve had enough now.
I am loving my snow in Tn :)
We don’t get much in these parts and my kids are having a blast.
Okay, I hope you know I don’t want to hear this!!!!!
I am at my Mother’s house near Lafollette TN. We got about eight inches here. My Mom lives in an apartment complex with all elderly folks.
It warmed up today, and I shoveled snow (can’t stand sitting, was HAPPY to get outside and move) for the entire complex. I shoveled snow (with about two inches of solid ice underneath) all along the sidewalks and up to the doors of every apartment, about 30 apartments.
I needed the physical workout (good also for a worried mind), but I DON’T want to have to do this again in a few days. My muscles are hurting right now.
I know . . . don’t shoot the messenger.
Nah the PV is not there for this storm, there isn’t the blocking. Wishcasting there. The low will ride the coast and secondary in the Ohio Valley will get an energy transfer from the Coastal low.. The temps will be a factor south of DC, with the precip more of the sleet, FZ variety. The swath of heavy snow will be from jst south of 40N to just north. The liquid equivalent will be in the 1.25 to 1.5 QPF range. Heaviest snows will not be in Dixie but in areas like DC, Garret county Maryland, Charleston , WV into Ohio.
Just tell, me, please, that it won’t rain all summer again, like it did last summer. (Bad for irrigation businesses.)
I liked last summer’s rain (although it did take a toll on some plants) a LOT better than the previous two summers’ drought.
Those summers convinced me one of the most important things I can own is a cistern.
We got quite a bit...
The road and my driveway were covered ...
Most of mine is gone...
I sat outside this afternoon on the porch in the warm sun...
:)
we got a new snow tool several years ago and it has been unused till this winter.
It is like a plow. You push it along the ground and shunt it aside. It is much easier than lifting shovel.
Looks like DC will get it again. Good.
we needed that this morning. :-)
I stay on top of this stuff and we are fine for now. I got 5” plus a good layer of sleet on top. The only way this pattern continues is to watch the Alberta Clippers or the Siberian Express. The lower jet is in-line but these must happen.
I sincerely hope the weather people here in the HSV area are better at predicting the weather than this last time. It was much ado about nothing.
Its been a pretty mild winter here in the upper midwest. We’ve had some cold but I don’t think we’ve had more than 6 inches of snow on the ground at one time.
I do like your heads up and fascination for mother nature. If you have a ping list you are free to add me to it.
My hubby mentioned today something that would be a good invention.
Since he’ll never “invent” it, I’ll go ahead and say it in a public forum, so someone else can patent it (unless it has already been done).
A snow blower with a built in heater, to blow the layers of snow away, then dry up the remaining liquid, so it doesn’t refreeze.
How much of the white stuff did you get up your way?
I wish it’d snow butthole high to a tall Indian, here...
We have another day off of school tomorrow. It should warm up enough to free us though. Jr G has been having a ball, sledding and being towed by a neighbor with the 4 wheeler. He did come in with a cut on his chin though. Seems he collided with a buddy’s snow board.
