This is a video that helps explain the mentality of news reporters. Check out this airhead news reporter doing a report on gun safety. The woman reporter in this video keeps pointing the loaded gun at the cameraman. Even after she fired a round down range at a target she looks at the camera and non nonchalantly shakes the gun with the barrel pointed towards the cameraman. Honestly, you cannot make this stuff up.
Watch the video of the airhead reporter here
After watching this video, all I could think about was all the gun laws we have. The only gun law we need in America is one that bans reporters from ever coming near one.
Reporterette: “Holy Moly what power!...I have no respect for it.”
They want their hair back.
Actually, this inadvertently becomes (perhaps) a great gun safety video. There’s nothing like outrageous humor to cement an important idea into the minds of the young and impressionable.
It’s not her, it is the Range Officer who didn’t explain Weapons Rule 1 before allowing her to touch a firearm.
She is probably a standard-issue city chick and has never touched a gun in her life. If it wasn’t for Boy Scouts I wouldn’t know the rules either (well, through FR I would have learned).
lol
I would not have the bozo in blue on my range!
Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to useNRA Gun Safety Rules :
Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction
She may not know gun safety, but she’s cute and can get by with a lot in life. She passes the range test in my book, though she may require remediation.
I notice that she’s not wearing eye protection. Having had a ricocheting bullet fragment cut my nose right between my eyes, nobody has to convince me of the importance of eye protection.
And, you will only fix this kind of stupid with mandatory firearms training for everyone as part of their (home schooled) education.
But, yeah, she’s an idiot...
Well, considering what idiotic moves the "range officer" (really, he was a range officer?) let her get away with before he stepped in, she probably said, "...glasses? Oh it's okay - I have in my contacts!" and he just let her slide...
I do feel sorry for the cameraman... Why he stood there and didn't tell her to "STOP POINTING THE F'ING GUN AT ME!!!" can only be explained by his lack of situational awareness and total stupidy...
When you have one idiot on the range by himself, pulling crap like this, I refer to it as a "self correcting error". Sometimes it only takes a minute to correct itself, sometimes it can take years - but sooner or later it WILL correct itself. But in the interim, bystanders become victims if they are not paying attention...

What a frikkin’ idiot! I’d hate to be on the highway with her while she’s texting away on her lap! Imagine her behind the wheel of an SUV going 75MPH, weaving in traffic, on her BlackBerry!
If I was the cameraman, you would have seen a flash of the sky while I tossed the camera and hit the dirt.
Then, after your marksmanship demonstration, she would have said (while swooning) "Oh Travis, I just knew there was something about you!" ;-]

PS: My above attempt at humor has made me remember something General Tommy Franks told the men to do when they got back home: "When you men get home and face an Anti-War protester, look him in the eyes and shake his hand. Then, WINK at his girlfriend, because she knows she's dating a P*$$y!"
That’s a great quote by Gen. Franks!
Your reply made me think more deeply. Here’s how I would have handled it. I’d start with an empty gun and “private lessons” golf-pro style. That is, standing pressed against her back, my arms over hers, my hands over hers, my chin on her shoulder. You get the idea. That’s “lesson one.”
The range officer where I shoot is ex USMC. He would have sounded off at her like Gunny Hartman. I have seen him sound off at people who show no respect for range rules. Such people at not welcome back. He’s by the book, and I prefer it that way!
Oops, that should be former Marine. Ex-Marine description belongs to scum like John Murtha.
Why do you think he did not explain the rule about not pointing a gun at anything you do not want to shoot? I got the impression that he did explain it, and was reminding her about it.

Good point. She was so casual I assumed she hadn’t been briefed.
