It’s not her, it is the Range Officer who didn’t explain Weapons Rule 1 before allowing her to touch a firearm.
She is probably a standard-issue city chick and has never touched a gun in her life. If it wasn’t for Boy Scouts I wouldn’t know the rules either (well, through FR I would have learned).

The range officer where I shoot is ex USMC. He would have sounded off at her like Gunny Hartman. I have seen him sound off at people who show no respect for range rules. Such people at not welcome back. He’s by the book, and I prefer it that way!
Why do you think he did not explain the rule about not pointing a gun at anything you do not want to shoot? I got the impression that he did explain it, and was reminding her about it.
