Absolute BS! There are people getting food stamps who have cell phones, cable, etc..
So, what’s next, tax the “rich” to pay for turkeys?
Hey wait, is not 36 million the number touted by the Dems as being uninsured? Irony.....http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/43668
In my town, I’ve seen people standing outside of the food kitchens with cell phones. A friend of mine told me of how he’s seen homeless people, and people that he knows lives in heavily-subsidized housing, with laptops!
And how much you want to bet many of these “food insecure” folks have cable/sat TV, internet and other goodies that’s interfering with their food budget?
I remember as a child almost everyone in Arkansas loved Gov. Faubua because of his “commodities” program. Every month they handed out free food. The more they get dependent on the government and hating “rich” folks, the more power they will have and the quicker we’ll see the end of the “republic” that Franklin suspected we couldn’t keep.
If they are getting food stamps, they aren’t lacking food.
Maybe they shouldn’t be buying shrimp and crab legs...
Yeah, I know some people are actually deserving as they work through some hard times, but my guess is well over half are just freeloaders.
This must be the cause of "obesity" in the poor.
Since health care is now a ‘right’ how is food not a right? You need food more than health care.
Feed the homeless to the poor, 2 birds 1 stone.
Thats because jobs are scarce and people used up all their unemployment.
You always hear this same crap every Thanksgiving. You've got people lined up at the food pantries so they can use the money they have on booze, cigs, or drugs.
My wonderful wife is from the Philippines, there is real poverty and ‘food insecurity’ there. The ‘poor’ in the USA are fabulously wealthy by comparison.
Wow! whatever happened to the days of Victory Gardens? All the rural people I know, including myself, grow a lot or our own food every summer and put it up for winter and beyond.
Do you think the Amish go hungry?
Sounds like a WORK shortage, not a food shortage..
Food “insecure”? They can’t find widespread hunger in the US so now we just have people who are “insecure” about food.
Well, I’d say at least the same number of Americans are feeling very “liberty insecure” lately. But I don’t suppose they will be issuing any redeemable Freedom Stamps to help us out with that.
...and he strongly believes in sharing the wealth.
36 MILLION AMERICANS WILL BE FOOD INSECURE suffer from food insecurity yet they possess:
1) LCD TV
2) the playboy channel
3) The latest video games and accessories
4) Illegal narcotics
5) size 56 waist pants
6) money to dine at Micky D’s breakfast, lunch and dinner.
7) lap dance cash
8) a 5000 dollar stereo system in a 500 dollar P.O.S car
9) a closet full of Obama t-shirts
10) several cell phones to keep the bill collectors away.
My scuba club decided to help out one year and put together
some food baskets to pass around. I’m not sure how the recipients were picked, but the people who delivered these
things came back vowing to never do it again. One family
didn’t even get up from their wide screen TV. Just told them
to “put the stuff over there”.
If you are hungry in America, and not utterly infirm, then you are hopelessly lazy. And also,, Thanksgiving is the time to count our blessings, not to try to prove how imperfect we are.
