Winston Churchill is often misattributed to the quote "If you're not a liberal when you're 20, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative when you're 40, you have no head." I believe these words from Sir Churchill, a leading figure of Tom Brokaws Greatest Generation, quite ironically sum up the generation that was to succeed him in history (the baby-boomers), had he actually been the one to have said it of course.
The idealistic hippies of the 60s fought for change to bring about a society so open-minded it could accept everything and everyone, but now the Teabaggers of the Present fight against change to provide only for themselves and their own vision of the world.
From the path of young Communists to aging Objectivists, this group has essentially become a mix of the worst parts of their parents generation and the generation they were in their youth. They kept the passion of the 60s and combined it with the irrational fear of change from the 50s.

Some of the most convoluted crap I’ve read in a while.
Thank you for sharing that. I think it cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 IQ points, and I didn’t even watch the whole thing.
C is not = S.
Just the oposite!
Hippies were/are dope using filthy lazy useless forms of a human.
Tea Baggers are hard working tax paying americans concerned for their country.
Have you ever wondered if the dollar bills in your wallet were ever stuck in a stripper’s butt crack?
If you weren’t, you are now—aren’t you? Admit it!
(If you actually *are* or were a stripper, RandReagan—say nothing, do not reply ... (drumming fingers ...)
Well they are. They are calling them and the children that attended too...they are calling the children in America that vile gay sexual name...
Why, oh why did you have to ask this question?
I have never thought about that angle and now it is stuck in my mind.
I now think I need to go wash my hands again. :-)
Every sentient being has the inalienable right to be stupid.
You’ve moved well beyond abusing that right.
“I believe these words from Sir Churchill, a leading figure of Tom Brokaws Greatest Generation”
Wasn’t Churchill a bit old to be part of the Greatest Generation (I’d fight them for that title, by the way, if I didn’t hate everyone else my own age)? He was like 65 when WWII broke out. Which means he was 18 before 1900 rolled around. I guess that makes him part of the Sucky Generation that fought in WWI, crashed the world economy, and generally screwed things up for the Greatest to clean up.
No.
Traditional in outlook. Clean. Employed. Child-bearing. Non-violent.
Definitely not hippies.
“”””Have you ever wondered if the dollar bills in your wallet were ever stuck in a strippers butt crack?””””””
No.
But if all goes well, they will be later.
“they in fact help pave the way for the modern protester”
That’s preposterous. Contrary to what movies and tv shows teach us, hippies did not invent rebeliousness. There were protests before. One can say, at most, that the hippie legacy is seen in contemporary leftist protests, especially those on campuses and against the WTO and G20, for instance. You give them far too much credit.
No, but now that you mention it, this here fiver does sort of taste like it...
“Traditional in outlook. Clean. Employed. Child-bearing. Non-violent..”
The conservative VERSION of the hippie.
It’s true. And Karma has spat in the face of the liberal.
Take that commies!
You give them far too much credit.
Maybe so.
But this has been their method for half a century. Now that they have it turned on them. Sweet justice.
Are you a butcher perchance?
