This is one of the easiest and most tasty dishes in the world. All too often people get carried away with ingredients not needed. Here, less is more.

I have always made mine with plain old avocados and added a little bit of salsa (good quality) for a little zing.

Avocado, mayo (just enough to lubricate), sea salt, lemon juice. No onion.

How do you make yours? Mine is avocado, seeded and chopped plum tomato, finely chopped red onion, garlic, lime juice.

Good base. I add some chopped cilantro leaf, some ground cumin, and a small dash of cayenne, then salt to taste. Use roma tomatoes so the seeds aren't much of an issue.
Tip: NO BLENDERS/FOOD PROCESSORS. Mash the 'cados with a fork to retain texture.

If you are diabetic, or have unusually high blood sugar levels, one avocado will lower your levels to normal.

I forgot, I do add cilantro and salt, but have never tried it with cumin or cayenne. I do use roma/plum tomatoes, but cut off the stem end and squeeze out the seeds and juice before I chop them. I like the idea of cumin and will add a bit next time. Avocados were 3/$1 this weekend and now I wish I’d bought a few! This has made me hungry.
