Someone on FOX said that 0bama was trying to sell himself instead of the USofA, that he talked about himself.
But writers above are correct. How does one sell an item that one has spent over two years trashing?
0bama got the slap in the face he deserved. It’s a start.
For the first time, I am proud of the International Olympic Committee.
Two real possibilities why 0bama failed:
1. The teleprompter called in sick and he had to wing it.
2. Michelle showed up a day early and the officials in Copenhagen immediately thought “If they can pass off a man as first lady, they’ll try to pass off men as female athletes. No deal.”
He blew it just by going over there and opening his mouth. Look what happens here when he does it ....
By odd happenstance, I was up late last night, and watched the Obama presentation to the IOC on live Chicago tv (link/live thread was posted here at FR). It was embarassing and absolutely infuriating.
The last thing Obama said/did was once again smack the US/Bush. Someone might want to find/post the last few minutes of the O presentation @ 3a EDT. I’m not that tech savvy.
A Danish Olympics official laid the loss squarely on Obama. In so many words he said it was arrogance, thinking that just by showing up, making a cameo appearance, O would win the Games for Chicago.

This reminds me of when the clintons paid off our own Political Astronaut with an old-age space flight. Remember how billy told us all about how he and his little lady--after they won the gig--sat down together to make up their list of events they wanted to get out of this president thing? Watching a space launch was one of gimmie's that the little lady had on her list, and he told us how happy he was to be able give it to her.
These people don't even understand that the President and First Lady are supposed to be in SERVICE to the Nation.

The problem is, it was nothing but a sales pitch. Everyting Obama does is a sales pitch. Unlike America's state-run media, the Olympic committee didn't fall for his flim-flam.
But the "change" narrative doesn't work here. It reminds foreigners of what they didn't like about Bush and about America even before Bush. It's weaker than Brazil's "new country, new continent, new hemisphere" pitch.
The only way you could offset that would be to claim to be more efficient, more secure, more competent than Rio, to have more resources and bring them to bear on time and without waste. Obama's pitch didn't do that, and it lost whatever chance Chicago had to snag the Olympics.
