WASHINGTON A California Republican congressman wants to do a little writing on the walls of Washington's newest federal building. If Rep. Dan Lungren gets his way, Congress will spend nearly $100,000 to engrave the words "In God We Trust " and the Pledge of Allegiance in prominent spots at the Capitol Visitor Center . Lungren's proposal drew only a whimper of opposition last week when the House of Representatives voted 410-8 to approve it. Now, however, Lungren finds himself tussling with a national atheists and agnostics group. The Wisconsin -based Freedom From Religion Foundation Inc. sued this week to stop the engraving, accusing Lungren of trying to force his religious beliefs on as many as 15 percent of all U.S. adults. That comprises "atheists, agnostics, skeptics and freethinkers, none of whom possess a belief in a god," according to the lawsuit.

By not putting the saying on the building, it is implying we trust in, well, nothing. Thus, the 15% are attempting to impose their will, their beliefs on the other 85%. Majority rules, get over it Atheists.
I don’t know which is more obnoxious, homosexuals or atheists. God scares the pee out of both of them.
Then, on to Pakistan.
Cheers!
If the verbage IS a quote from the said group, then even the small 'g' for god reveals their belief in something.
If not, they are free to protest/keep any of their funds/taxes from the cost of the inscription.
They also should be reminded that belief in God is not mandatory.
(thread drifting to mandatory Government health insurance -- freedom?)
However, "in god we trust" has historic significance in it's contribution to our heritage.
The Athiest group's religious beliefs should not impede the rights of the people to un-biased freedom of religion to be displayed by the government who represents them, as guaranteed by the constitution
$100,000 of taxpayer money just so you can show off how religious you are? Yet more proof that tax-and-spend slimeballs aren’t just on the Democrat side.
Funny how they rarely attack Islam.
My question is always, “Don’t they have anything else to occupy their time?” I mean that even if I were an atheist, I can’t see caring enough to write a letter over this let alone lodge lawsuits. Truth is, atheism is their religion, and they’re on a jihad.
You got that right. They’re not atheists, but anti-theists.
I can see your point, but I also wonder whether putting "In God We Trust" on a government building isn't sacrilegious. If I put a cross in the middle of a sewage pond, Christians would rightly scream. Is it any different putting religious words on a government building given the state of the slime running the place?
After some additional thought after my last post, I am adamantly opposed to the idea of engraving the words. What would we think if a whorehouse had “In God We Trust” engraved on the lintel? Well, the government is like a whorehouse but worse: We’re involuntarily getting screwed, paying a lot more, and not feeling very happy about it.
How about “There are no atheists in foxholes” as the motto?
Let’s dump a bunch into Afghanistan and see if we can prove this.
I’m surprised they weren’t for this. I heard they were going to use Obama’s logo for the “O” in God. I would think Barry would give it a thumbs-up.
Then what will they do about the “In God We Trust” on the wall in the Senate and the House? Hm?
